Hot Makeup Trend: Orange Lipstick
Remember those vibrant lip colours we saw on the NYC Spring/Summer 2011 runways? Warmer weather is right around the corner, and it's time to start updating your makeup bag with one of the hottest lip colours this season: Orange.
Milly by Michelle Smith, Fendi, Marc by Marc Jacobs
Orange lipstick is flattering on almost all skin tones and best suits a clean face with minimal (or no) eye makeup.
For statement-making orange lipstick, we suggest getting your hands on one of these:
Revlon Moon Drops Lipstick in 'Orange Flip' $8ish, YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick $30, MAC neon orange lipstick $14.50
Now before you start freaking out about Crayola-coloured lips, know that you don't have to go as bold as the runway looks to get in on this trend. Take a cue from celebs who are wearing more subtle orange tones.
Tessa Thompson, Heidi Klum, Agyness Deyn
We like:
Lise Watier Rouge Gourmand $19, Quo Luminous Gloss Stick in Glow $12, MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Intense in Satin Bright Orange $19
Will you wear orange lipstick this Spring?

I love this! My regular lipstick is a light orange with a little bit of peachy-ness to it and I love it. It can brighten up my whole look!
I am obsessed with MAC in "Morange" it looks great on so many skin tones too.

I am loving the orange lips; really makes it feel like Spring time! I just ordered the MUFE #40 bright orange color and cannot wait to receive it.

I really love the Milly by Michelle look
Awesome trend!!! Agree with everyone: orange, just like red, suits everyone! It's just a matter of finding the right shade for you :-) I have Nars (in red) but if I mix a bit of peach into it, it becomes the most flattering orange shade ..hmm.....
The colour Agynes has on look really great on her.
You're right Cathy. It really is just about finding the right shade, otherwise it can look a little too 80s gone wrong.
You actually may be surprised at how many skin tones suit orange lipstick. It's just a matter of finding the right shade for you. Some people may look better with a reddish-orange, others with a coral undertone, and some others may suit bright orange just fine. I have YSL's Le Orange and was really surprised at how good orange looks on me. |
