Hot Trend: Faux Fur Outerwear

| Thursday December 30, 20104 comments

Though genuine fur endures as a timeless trend, the ethics question prevents it from becoming a universal styling choice.  With designers and retailers taking a renewed interest in faux materials (and doing a darn good job of it lately, wethinks!), faux fur jackets, capelets, and coats are bang on trend sans the controversy.

Here are a few styling options we like:

ASOS Vintage Faux Fur Coat US$103.44, American Rag Dolce Vita Faux Fur US$286

Juicy Couture Hooded Jacket C$252 (sale), Forever 21 US$41.80

Top Shop Faux Fur Jacket by Love** C$93, Zara Faux Fur Bolero C$29.20

Piperlime Tinley US$98, Le Chateau Luxe Faux Fur Coat C$189.95

Lucky Brand Jeans US$139.99 (sale), Topshop Cropped Faux Leopard Coat US$170

We want to know: Do you wear this trend?  Or is the glamour lost in the fur-to-faux translation?

I think if I were to wear one of these coats I'd add a simple leather belt to pull it together :)

I love the way these coats can instantly jazz up a casual outfit or make a dressy outfit look umpteen times more glamourous!
I ordered one very similar to the Piperlime Tinley coat from Dorothy Perkins (dorothyperkins.co.uk), and am now waiting to receive it!

I love the Top Shop one. Also little faux fur capes, shrugs and vests can be really cute and warm.

The glamour is definitely not lost in the fur-to-faux translation. There are some great quality faux furs out there and even some of the top fashion houses have adopted the faux trend.

I don't own any but I do have my eye on that Topshop coat!
