Hot pants, rompers, mildly inappropriate high slits and shorter-than-short dresses are sharing the seasonal spotlight with maxi frocks.  While mile-long legged ladies may feel confident stepping out in hot pants, try the safer and much more wearable alternative to show off those sexy stems: a short flirty dress.

Steal

Victoria’s Secret carries plenty of short playful print dresses including this hot sweetheart number ($50).  The super sexy Lucca Couture Open-Back Sundress ($78) is a fun look for basking in the summer sun, but be careful on windy days!

Splurge

A sucker for silk, this Parker Gathered Waist Long Sleeved Dress ($209) is perfect for a summer’s night.  I also like the balance of this dress, baring plenty of leg while keeping things a mystery on top. Take a pass on the typical LBD and opt for an LWD (little white dress) this summer like this Tucker mini ($200).  We also think this adorable Alice + Olivia tie-dye number is a solid summer staple ($370).

With the hemlines so high, there is nowhere to go but down.  My advice is to go for the steal on this look!   Will you wear the mini this summer?
