How Paula Brancati Channels Retro Hollywood: 4 Beauty Tips to Try
ChickAdvisor recently had the chance to chat style and beauty with Paula Brancati. Now, I'm kind of a closet Degrassi nerd- I love that show and if you're like me, you may remember Paula as Jane Vaughn on Degrassi. More recently, she is known for playing Jenny on Being Erica.
While her character Jenny is an all around girly-girl, Paula prefers everyday go-to items like dark skinny denim, blazers, maxi skirts and a great pair of boots. She looks to icons like Kate Winslet and Marilyn Monroe for inspiration- both women who celebrate their curves by always looking fabulous.
In terms of beauty, Paula's go-to items are a great black eyeliner to create a smokey eye and of course, a good concealer. Paula is also big fan of the nostalgic glamour of shows like Mad Men and of course- who doesn't love the put together and sophisticated look of Joan, Betty or Peggy?

Retro-Glam Hair: I had to ask Paula about her hair- I've always admired her long and shiny locks! Her trick: she goes with her natural curls for everyday by washing her hair the night before and putting her wet hair in a messy bun for the night. When it's dry in the morning, she anchors with a bit of hair spray and boosts body by curling a few pieces here and there.
For a night out or special event, why not go old school with a pin up girl inspired hair do? I found this tutorial video on a what they've coined the 'Suicide Roll'- I love how eye catching and yet surprisingly easy this hair style is.

Winged Eyeliner: Also known as the cat eye, Paula has sported this look in character on occasion but as a work or school look, this works too! This liner opens up your eyes making them larger- no wonder women keep coming back to this old school favourite! Read our Winged Tip tutorial over here.

Matte Skin: Paula counts Philosophy's Hope in a Jar Moisturizer (C$38.00) and Kiehl's as favourites for non oily bases- great for creating a matte make up look. For a matte finish over you foundation there are fabulous powder options that help to set your look. Try Clinique Blended Face Powder (C$20.00) or for a more affordable option, Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder (C$6.99).
