How points work on ChickAdvisor and a note about #hashtags
Chicks, we have some exciting news for you! First, there are less than 3 weeks left until Spring and winter is dead to you. Congratulations on getting through it!
Points = gift cards
The second great piece of news is that each month, points are going to give you a shot at earning an e-gift card! Every month we will tally up who has earned the most points within that month*.
Top points earners can be identified at the end of each month on the Monthly Top Chicks section on our homepage. This section resets automatically each month so it's fair game for everyone, regardless of how many points you have now. E-Cards will be sent out within the first week of each month to the previous month's top earners.
So how do you earn points?
Using our hashtags = more shots at free products
This spring you will notice an abundance of new Product Review Club offers on ChickAdvisor. Thousands of you will get to test and spread the word about the best new products 2015 has to offer. Using the branded hashtags we provide is going to become more important than ever for those of you who participate in these programs. Brands love seeing your tweets, blog posts and cute pics on Instagram. Instagram in particular is a staff favourite. #apictureisworthathousandwords.
Thank you for your continued support and amazing reviews. You really make ChickAdvisor a special place and I personally love you.
XOXO,
Ali
UPDATE: FAQs
Q: Do my all-time points count toward the monthly contest?
A: Only the points you earn in that calendar month count for the purpose of this contest. Your permanent points total will never be lost, but every month your monthly counter resets.
Q: What if someone adds dummy reviews or otherwise tries to scam the system?
A: Our site admins comb the new reviews every day and remove any nonsensical reviews we find. We do not tolerate spam on our site and are vigilant to catch anyone trying to "game" our system. Any member who purposely uses our site under false pretenses will have their account deleted and be blacklisted from all of our programs (including the Product Review Club). All potential monthly winners' profiles are examined before we award the monthly prizes to ensure the member's activity is legitimate.
Q: Can we review anything we want?
A: For the most part yes, but please be reasonable! ChickAdvisor is your space to post and read helpful reviews for products and services of general interest. ChickAdvisor reserves the right to remove any reviews for any reason and without notice.
Q: Do negative reviews count for participation in this monthly contest?
A: Yes, we allow negative reviews as long as they do not violate our policy on spam, libel, abusive behaviour, etc. Ranting is discouraged and may be subject to deletion. Keep your negative reviews helpful. Sometimes a product you disliked is better suited for a person with different needs, hair type, etc!
Q: How do we report a review or a member we suspect of scamming your system?
A: We will be introducing a feature for flagging inappropriate reviews soon. If you have any concerns, please email us: info (at) chickadvisor (dot) com.
*Q: How are the Top 10 monthly winners chosen?
A: While the Top 10 Chicks are featured on the ChickAdvisor homepage throughout the month, this does not guarantee that these members will win a gift card. The 10 winners will be chosen based on the quality of their reviews not merely quantity. The awarding of gift cards is at the discretion of the ChickAdvisor Team.

@Nik05 Thank you so much! I love that you've been with us from the very early days. XOXOXO
Love this!! I've been a ChickAdvisor member for about 8 years now and you ladies are always amazing me with the new things you come out with and add to the site. #LOVEit!
@jmca: our admin team does evaluate the potential monthly winners, and if we saw that someone was creating reviews that were clearly just space fillers, that person would be disqualified. We absolutely agree that only DESERVING members should win. Thanks for your input!
Points for gift cards is a nice change but I hope we don't start getting "false" entries just for points. What I mean by "false" is quick or made-up responses just to complete task and get points. Especially when it comes to reviews.
Thank you for sharing. I'm still new to instagram, but I hope to learn more and share lots.
awesome idea | |
Maybe it would help the staff out to have a tech put in the system a way for fellow reviewers to flag a review for moderation? That way the non-reviews are less likely to go missed since you'll have more people helping out with finding those few bad apples in the system.
Sounds good and fun! | |
@glumbumble: You're absolutely right, and whenever we locate non-reviews they are deleted. We comb the reviews regularly but stuff does occasionally get missed.
Nice incentive, though I think contests like this also help promote poorly thought out reviews and reviews for things that should be deleted (like when I saw a 'review' that said how they hate how some store was closed down...). There needs to be more moderation on reviews I think. |
