Hunger Games Inspired Party Ideas

The Hunger Games film is coming out in 3 days and we're crazy excited over here at ChickAdvisor. So excited in fact, that we think the 23rd should be made a national holiday, actually, an international holiday and no, we don't think that's over doing it.

In preparation for The Hunger Games, we thought it would be awesome to host a Hunger Games theme party with all the District 12-ishness that comes along with it! We've got everything you'll need here to host a kick-ass partay in true Hunger Games style.

Food

With a title like 'The Hunger Games', food is obviously going to be a key element for your party. For an authentic meal, try The Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook (US$18.99) or use food mentioned in the book as inspiration for your own recipes.

Goat Cheese on Bread with Apple Slices make a great app and they're taken straight from the book; just like Katniss and Peeta ate in the cave. Bread is a huge food item in the book. Try this saffron and golden raisin loaf or our very own Honeywheat and Sunflower Bread Recipe. Then, for dessert, use the arrow theme and decorate fun cupcakes!

These Hunger Games cookies are easy to make and have awesome quotes and sayings from the book. Of course, talking Hunger Games, it would be wrong not to mention stew. A hearty lamb stew will get you in the Hunger Games spirit.

Décor

We're focusing on a woodland, homey and rustic feel for The Hunger Games party. It's all about nature so think greens, browns, natural fibres, fabrics and materials.

Don't be afraid of bringing the outside, inside. Find branches, twigs, grass or moss and use it as filler in mason jars or in vases. These make gorgeous centre pieces!

Accessorize

Go big or go home chicks! Make The Hunger Games party pop with fun accessories and wearables. Show your Hunger Games pride with jewellery or nail art. Are you a Katniss fan? Copy her signature braidAre you Team Peeta? Let everyone know who you're rooting for with a tee

The Hunger Games even has its own China Glaze Nail Polish collection! Try a colour like Harvest Moon or Agro. You can even show off your love of Hunger Games on your feet with these customizes TOMS shoes from Etsy

How will you be celebrating the release of The Hunger Games?

I didn't realize this book/movie was so big! I read the first book in the series and loved it, but I had no idea how much hype it's been getting! Great ideas for a Hunger Games party... too bad I don't know anyone else who has read the book.
