It's Tea Time: Pinspiration for the Perfect Tea Party

Posted by Renee | Thursday November 7, 20135 comments

Warm and comforting; tea is the perfect drink for the dreary Fall weather we've been having. Keeping this in mind, I am all for reviving the lost art of tea parties. Yummy tea and pretty china? Yes. Good company? Yes. Scones, cookies, and those ridiculously tiny yet super fancy sandwiches? Uh, yes please! Tea parties should not be reserved for five year olds, their teddy bears and only members of the British royal family. I think we all deserve to get a little fancy sometimes. Keep your party classy and cozy, British-style big hats and matching gloves, optional (although, super fun).

After reading this post please be sure to invite us to all the tea parties you host in the future, okay?

First, how to set your table:

And be sure to have a selection of delicious teas on hand:

1. The Earl's Garden Black Tea (C$6.75 per 50 g)

2. Keep warm and cozy by whipping up a pot of ChickAdvisor's Spiced Winter Tea Recipe

3. If you would like to try something new, check out Etsy for selections of artisan, handcrafted loose leaf tea

4. Iced tea more your thing? Learn how to make Starbucks' Tazo shaken iced tea with lemonade.

And a tea party isn't a tea party without a few things to nibble on:

1. Lemon Tarts

2. Soft Cheese Plate

3. Lemon Butter Biscuits

4. Cucumber Avocado Tea Sandwiches

Lastly, sip and nom away with a few choice items:

1. No tea set at home? Take a trip to any second hand shop and you will find loads of vintage tea cups. Go ahead and mix and match colours and patterns. (image via thekitchykitchen.blogspot.ca)

2. Royal Sapphire Bone China Tea Set (C$129.95)

3. Noble Cups Four Colour Set (C$29.50)

4. Elephant Tea Pot (C$20.00)

5. Modern Stainless Steel Tea Maker with Warmer (C$119.95)

Are you a tea drinker? Would you host a tea party?

I love drinking green tea and chamomile tea. Lemon tarts and cucumber avocado sandwiches are really good ideas.

Lettuce sandwiches are a big hit when I throw a tea party, as well as the Chai and Earl Gray teas!
