Kid-Friendly Sunscreens
If you’re diligent with you own sunscreen application, chances are you’re even more so with your kids. It’s a well known fact that the more sunburns you have as a child, the higher your chances are of developing skin cancer. No need to turn that into an excuse to stay in and play Xbox, sunscreen companies have sunscreens just for your kids, with tear-free, waterproof, and gentle moisturizing formulas. Have them apply sunscreen 30 minutes before heading out into the sunshine and every two hours after that.
1. Ombrelle Kids SPF 60 (C$17.99) is a tried and true, with an upped SPF to keep the kids safe fom UV rays.
2. Aveeno Baby Screen Lotion with SPF 55 (C$15.79) has a high SPF and moisturizing ingredients to keep baby skin as soft as it should be.
3. Green Beaver Kids SPF 30 (C$19.99) is certified organic and Health Canada approved so you can trust it on your kids.

I use kid's sunscreen often since they are formulated for more sensitive skin. Aveeno and Ombrelle work great and don't irritate my skin :)
I've also used kids sunscreen a lot (easier to carry one bottle than two). I used Ombrelle on my son and myself with great results.
I use kids' sunscreen all the time. I find that it's less scented which is probably to make it more gentle to children's sensitive skin. The only thing is that it's often more expensive than regular sunscreen (or at least, it seems to be on sale less often?). I have also used regular sunscreen on my kids and it all works out to be more or less the same.
I'm just wondering, what's the biggest difference between sunscreen for kids and sunscreen for adults if they are both waterproof, moisturizing, etc. Would it be okay if I were to use kids sunscreen on myself? |
