Help! How can we dodge holiday party planning stress?

No doubt, holiday party planning can be stressful. So, pour yourself a glass of wine and begin to brainstorm fun themes and colour schemes that match your personal style. Sift through magazines, comb runway shots, watch some classic flicks and visit your favourite stores. These are all great ways to get inspired.

Any advice for those wanting to go from rookie to pro-party planner overnight?

My top tip is to pick a theme. Once you've got a vision in mind, you will know the message you're trying to communicate and can then take your party decor to the next level by focusing on the little details. Start by mapping out the items you need and writing a targeted shopping list. Don't be afraid of mixing and matching colours, textures and styles. You can also consider D.I.Y items—they are a great way to add a personal touch without breaking the bank.

What’s the secret to pulling together a crowd-pleasing playlist?

For the holidays, it's all about the pop classics! Mariah, Jackson 5, Madonna and of course Glee are all serious guilty pleasures that tend to please all.

Quick! You have 10 minutes to throw together a centrepiece. What do you grab?

You've got this! Fill glass vases with single colour flowers, whatever you can find, and cut them to all the same height. Grab ivory pillar candles in multiple sizes, and you're set. You can't go wrong with a polished monochromatic look. So elegant, especially in all white.

What signature cocktail will you be serving this holiday season?

I’m all for holiday spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. I would mix together a hot buttered rum cocktail paired with a decadent chocolate dessert.

Ok, spill it. Where do you shop for your supplies and decor?

All over! HomeSense, Creative Bag, IKEA, and Dollarama—all are my go-to's. I'm always on the hunt, stock piling pieces as I go, even if it doesn't fit a specific theme.
