Look of the Day: Exaggerated Cat Eye
Amanda Seyfried recently walked the red carpet at the premiere of the much anticipated Les Mis doing an exaggerated, dramatic, thick lined cat eye (below, right) and I was instantly in love. As the party season approaches, I'm labelling this exaggerated cat eye as the holiday look to copy!

With the wings drawing all the attention to her green eyes, she played it neutral with a pinky, coral lip. Last year, Amanda pulled off a similar look but with more shadow (left). Equally as sexy, but I think the matte black makes a more modern statement and takes it to a chicer level.
Designers seem to be on the same wave length as Ms. Seyfried. Lanvin and Moschino both did their unique takes on the exaggerated cat eye:

Looking to try out this look for yourself? I suggest going with a pencil liner or a gel liner. And for a twist, a shadow for a smokier effect. Try some of these products out for yourself:
1. Ultra Flesh Black Magic The Ultimate Jet Black Eyeliner Collection (C$21.00 on sale)
2. Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil (C$5.99)
3. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner (C$12.09)
4. Annabelle Smudge Paint (C$9.95)
5. Guerlain Terracotta Loose Powder Kohl Liner (C$41.00)
6. Tarte Skinny SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner (C$25.00)
What do you think of this cat eye? Is it something you would do to jazz it up for a holiday party?

I absolutely love these looks especially for glam nights. I've done this myself and the trick I used to make the exaggerated cat eyes look more clean cut is using white masking tape. Stick tape diagonally across the corner of your eyes (you can even put another over the top of your lid in the shape you want) so when you put eyeshadows / liners on, the excess will go on the tape. Once you're done blending, etc. just peel off the tape and you'll have a clean cut cat exaggerated cat eye.
Something that looks good on models/celebrities but would look ridiculous probably on a regular person.
Gosh I love that look on Amanda. I;ve attempted this look many times, but just can't get it right :(

I like Amanda Seyfried's but not the rest. The crease is uber visible.
No thanks. I personally think this looks better on other people, than on myself.
I don't think it looks great on most of these people (it only looks good on Amanda Seyfriend in the left picture). I also agree with @mamaluv that it must be situationally appropriate.
I Agree with takoda, looks good on a lot of women but I don't have the eyes for this unfortunately :(
I think this goes a little overboard....for everywhere except the runway maybe
Love Seyfried's look! |
