Makeup Transformation: Eyebrow Shaping and Colouring
Have you ever taken a look at the weird but very amusing website celebswithnoeyebrows.com? If you haven't, you need to- not only will you waste at least 10 minutes browsing their photo gallery but you'll see exactly how much of a difference an eyebrow makes.
While we're definitely not brave enough to shave off our eyebrows to prove this, what we are doing for this transformation is using simple techniques and products that change the way our eyebrows look. A well shaped and defined brow opens up your eyes and your face and can help to create your desired face shape- i.e. a long face looks more sculpted with flatter brows. Read more about that in our Perfect Eyebrow Shape for Your Face forum over here.
Mandy used Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Colour (C$27.00) to darken her eyebrows, making them appear fuller and more defined. She also cleaned up her brows using Sally Hansen Bushy Brow Be Gone Tweezers (C$7.99).
Michelle used the same Stila eye brow colour, her filled in brows draw you in and make her eyes really stand out!
Shiori has fairly sparse eyebrows so filling them really creates the illusion of fullness. A full, thick eye brow makes Shiori look more awake and bright-eyed! Shiori is also testing out the Rimmel Lash Accelerator Serum (C$9.99) which promises to thicken eyelashes as well as brows.
Alexandra already has dark eyebrows so she decided to go the opposite route with her transformation. She lightened her eyebrows to a lighter shade of brown using Jolen Creme Bleach (C$6.99). While there is a noticeable difference in the colour we can't see much difference in her overall appearance.

I like shiori's before and after best. The rest aren't noticable enough
Mandy and Shiori - darkened eyebrows really makes a difference for these ladies. I think it highlights their eyes. I like their after picture a lot.
The first three girls looked more polished with "done eyebrows". I love this look! With Alex, she can go either way. I like them darker or lighter. Maybe it would depend on what she's wearing or what her makeup's like.
Mandy's new brows look the best, her eyes REALLY pop, like wow. I didn't notice a positive difference for Alexandra, she already has amazing brows, they should stay darker.
The differences are pretty subtle in all 4 ladies. I guess my fav improvement would be on Alexandra as her eyebrow colour is a more natural shade now.
Mandy - After - Looks like she used a brow pencil to "fill in" her brows making them look fuller, Michelle - Before - I didn't like the "filling in" and darkening of your brows in the after; it overpowered your other features, Shiori - After - your brows were very light so adding some definition to them worked really well for you, Alexandra - Before - I did not like the lighter "eye" on you. You have a kind of "sultry" look that works well with the darker/bolder eyes.
I prefer Mandy's. Everyone had a subtle difference except for Alexandra which confused me about which was before and after. But Mandy's seemed to open up her eyes. :D Something I'm totally going to try now.

I say before! for darker brunettes like she is, it's better sometimes to leave your eyebrows how they are :)
I'm actually half half: Mandy and Shiori look even better "after" - the darker more defined brows really make their eyes pop. I definitely agree with the person who said Shiori should add a bit more angle to her brows, but defining them def' makes a huge difference! :-) However Michelle with her beautiful wavy locks and neutral makeup has a much more softer / less dramatic look, so for me the softer / lighter "before" eyebrows go with her overall appearance. And Alexandra's usual dark and defined eyebrows go with her dramatic looks, so I think for her, the 'before' picture was more appropriate too. |
