Makeup Transformation: From Bare Lip to Bold Lip (Guess to Win!)

Ever felt a little ho-hum and then put on some lipstick and felt magically transformed? Or, do you prefer to keep it simple with a bit of lip balm as you head out the door? We're firm believers in the power of face paint, so we thought we'd do a side-by-side comparison and see what you think: Bare lip or bold lip, what's better?

Alexandra with her bare lip, and wearing Revlon Matte Lipstick in Fabulous Fig, a berry shade that looks lovely with her deep brown eyes.

Tasha takes her lip from light to bright, wearing Lise Watier Lip Kiss Crayon Gloss in Mango Punch, a vivid coral.

Jenni looks lovely with her cat eyes—at right she swiped on Guerlain KissKiss Peche Fougueuse 541, a creamy peach with a touch of red.

Tammy goes for a classic: M.A.C Lipstick in Russian Red, a matte formula with blue undertones that's super flattering on most skin tones.

What do you like better, a bare lip or a bold lip? Tell us in the comments below and get entered to win a beauty prize (it'll be one of the five we're giving away this week, check out this article to see what they are).

I agree that all the girls look good with or without the lipstick. I am leaning towards a preference for the bare look. These ladies are lucky to have such nice looking natural lips. However I do love that fabulous fig shade on Alexandra.

You girls all look beautiful, with and without the lipstick! I think I like the bare lip look. I find really bold lips a little distracting sometimes. It can be all that is seen. You are all so pretty and I think that can be apperciated more without the distraction of bold lips.

It's tough, but I think I vote bare lip. I am a more natural make up type of gal so I go natural looking lip gloss most times. Although I gotta say, I am LOVING that Russian Red.

Oh good point mamaluv. Here I thought all bold colors will make the teeth appear whiter hehe.

All you ladies look gorgeous both bare and bold! :-) But if I had to nitpick I'd say Alexandra's face is fresh healthy and glowing with bare lips. I think it's just the shade of bold lip colour she chose that's sort of darkening her. She looks gorgeous, but compared to her bare lips, I like the bare better. The rest of the girls bold lips look awesome (although the bare looks beautiful too, but beside the bold, and considering the summer colours, bold rocks!). I especially love Tammy's lip colour. It makes her whole face just pop! Everything looks brighter and better on her after that pop of colour. Also the shade of red suits really well.

Yes, cool undertone lipsticks definitely make your teeth look whiter! Warm undertones can emphasize any yellowing that might be there, so if you wear warm-toned lipsticks make sure you keep up with those Whitestrips!

I know this is just an illusion, but bold lips make the teeth look whiter.

Bold lips for sure the ladies look so nice with the pretty shades and the shades they are wearing are very complimentary to them. Its summer time we need to have pretty bold lips there are so many nice colors to choice from. Also if someone wants in between try a lip stain like Joe fresh or the light tinted burts bees. But Im sticking with the bold lips :)

I'm surprised at myself, but I actually prefer the bare lip.
