Meet Heidi, the Cross-Eyed Opossum
She's got her own Facebook page (132,000 fans and counting), worldwide attention and a lucrative merchandising opportunity to her credit. Not too shabby for a cross-eyed opossum.
"Heidi", reportedly abandoned near an animal shelter in North Carolina, has been adopted by the Leipzig zoo (Germany) and though the general public has yet to see her in person, her online fame is nearing that of fellow German zoo celebs Knut the polar bear and Paul the World-Cup-predicting octopus.
Here's a little preview of what those 132,000+ fans will see come July in Leipzig:

I had a dream about this thing last night, it was not a good one.

Ugh! Nothing could make an opossum cute! An opossum is an ROUS!
I'm honestly afraid of that thing. Being cross-eyed isn't enough to make it cute to me!
Yeah, I agree that the tail's a little scary.
I had a wild opossum coming into our back porch via the cat door and stealing her kibble. It was at night, so when I looked out the window to see what the racket was about, I freaked out because of how huge it was (plus the last thing I was expecting was that!). The tail really is quite long.
I agree with Lauren - it's too rodent-like, it creeps me out!
Alright I'll go "Aww" with you, but only for the last half of the video. This possum is kinda cute from the front, especially because it's doesn't have those scary pink eyes. But I just can't get over the tail it's too much like a rodant (But 10X bigger) |
