Nail Trends: Best Red Polishes of Summer 2011

Deep reds can sometimes feel more fall than summer since they're so saturated and rich, and frankly they can be a bit intimidating to wear. Have you ever felt empowered when wearing red on your nails? Get that same boldness when incorporating the colour into your wardrobe this summer. Heads can't help but turn when they see a red dress, and leave the white Tee in the drawer and pair a red blouse with your denim shorts. If you prefer your red in small doses, there's always sandals, or new shades from Essie and Zoya to try.

1. Zoya Nail Polish in Sooki (US$8.00)
2. Essie Nail Color in Too Too Hot (US$8.00)
3. Zoya Nail Polish in Tamsen (US$8.00)
4. Oasis Printed Peasant Top With Ruffle Front (C$70.82)
5. Gap Clean Front Shorts (C$44.95)
6. J. Brand 11" Ankle Skinny Jeans (C$174.88)
7. Zara Frayed Miniskirt (C$59.90)
8. Hybrid Square Neck Cap Sleeve Dress (C$150.49)
9. Edit By Jeanne Beker Long Sleeve Topper (C$48.99)
10. Tophsop Hollywood Tuck Shift Dress (US$140.00)
11. Steve Madden Caymen Sandal (US$71.95 sale)

Do you wear red in the summer? What's your favourite shade of red nail polish?

Red's a hard colour for me. I have been told that I'm either a cool spring (so should be wearing raspberries/cranberries) or a warm spring (should be wearing tomatoes), but either way it's really hard for me to pull off a solid red shirt or dress. I definitely prefer accessories in such a bold shade, but have never really been tempted by nail polish. Maybe it's time for another look!

I saw a lady wearing a red dress today and it looked really good. The color just pops.

I am loving that Zara miniskirt! I bought myself one in bright bright blue, because I couldn't find any in the store! I think it's a popular product...They didnt' even have it in New York!
