Night Time Beauty Routine: The Best Beauty Sleep You've Ever Had

Posted by Alexandra C. | Thursday November 15, 20127 comments

There's something about the cold weather starting that makes me want to curl up in my bed at 8 pm and not get up until I absolutely have to (which is about three snoozed alarms later). Not only does this just feel oh-so-good, but there's definitely something to getting your beauty sleep. When you get more sleep, it's physically noticeable. You look alert, awake and you reduce the puffiness under your eyes. Getting those 8 hours every night is a challenge for most of us, but having a bed time routine can help you wind down. After you repeat your routine a few times, the repetition becomes ingrained and you'll start to associate it with sleeping.

Part of this routine should be beauty related. We've said it before but we'll say it again: taking off your makeup at the end of the day is one of the most important things for your skin! Since your skin won't have any makeup on, it's also key to moisturize before bed as well. Lastly, who knows who you'll meet in your dreams, right? So be sure to get your cutest PJs on!

Here are some of the products we recommend for your own night time beauty routine:

Step 1: Cleanse

Choose a cleanser that will get rid of any makeup traces (I know, I know, I'm nagging). For the drier months, I like to switch to a less harsh and more sensitive cleanser.

1. Clarins One-Step Facial Cleanser (C$36.00)

2. Clairsonic Mia Skin Cleansing System (C$139.00)

3. Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser (C$26.00)

4. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (C$19.09)

5. Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleansing Cloths (C$20.00)

Step 2: Night Cream

I'm a total night cream addict. I have so many bottles at home and I always find myself buying more. Lately I've been trying out night time moisturizing masks and peels. Also, don't forget to give your hair some hydration, a leave-in overnight is a great idea.

1. Clinique Repairwear Intensive Night Cream (C$64.00)

2. L'Oreal EverStrong Overnight Repair Treatment (C$11.89)

3. Skin Authority Night Revitalizer (C$78.00)

4. Lancome Genifique Yeux Light-Pearl Eye-Illuminating Youth Activating Concentrate (C$85.00)

5. My Beauty Diary Chamomile & White Lily Sleep Concentrate  (US$12.51)

6. Miracle Skin Triple Active Night Treatment (C$78.00)

7. Elizabeth Grant Exclusives Wonder Effect Retinol Night Cream (C$60.00)

8. Live Clean Fresh Face Nourishing Night Cream (C$21.59)

9. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Eye Cream (C$25.29)

Step 3: Comfy, Cozy PJ'S

So, you may have already realised this (through various pose offs), but I love me a good pattern or print. I have an inappropriate number of printed pants for a person my age. But hey, they're so much fun! So why should the fun stop when your head hits the pillow?

1. American Apparel Floral Chiffon Pyjama Set (C$62.00)

2. Forever 21 Micro-Stripe Lace Trim PJ Shorts (C$9.80)

3. Old Navy Printed Poplin Lounge Pants (C$17.94)

4. Victoria's Secret After Hours Pyjama (US$69.50)

5. Topshop Floral Pinspot Pyjama Set (UK$28.00)

6. River Island Zebra Onesie (C$53.69)

Step 4: Your Bedside Essentials

On my own bedside table, I like to keep my 'most used' items. The products that I keep reaching for, even throughout the night. Most importantly, I like to have a moisturising lip balm and a hand or body cream so my skin can soak it up in the night and I wake up to soft skin. To help me slumber off peacefully at night, I make sure to have a good book and a nice smelling candle nearby.

1. The Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling (C$20.34)

2. Blistex Complete Moisture Lip Balm  (C$3.49)

3. Eucerin Aquaphor Skin Protectant (C$9.59)

4. Jergens Overnight Repair (C$9.09)

5. Slatkin & Co. Candle in Winter (C$20.00)

6. Bio Oil (C$12.99)

7. Nivea SOS Hand Cream (C$5.99)

The Purity makeup removing wipes are the BEST ones out there. SO worth the investment...

These days I'm into the FRESH "Seaberry Oil" to moisturize my dehyrated skin. I also LOVE my ROSEBUD Strawberry Lip Salve.

I love winter!

I make sure I have all of my makeup off of my face before I go to bed with Neutrogena eye makeup toweletts. Then I use one of my Olay facial scrubs, or face wash with my Olay Pro-X advanced cleansing. I love how it makes your face feel so soft and clean when you’re done. Then it’s onto moisturizing my face and eye’s with what ever I happen to be experimenting with that month. I use Burt’s Bee’s lemon butter cuticle cream for my nail’s every night and if its fall or winter I use Burt’s Bee’s leg and foot cream on my legs and what ever moisturizer I have on hand for the rest of my skin. Oh and when I feel my feet need some love I use Curel foot therapy cream on them. I think that’s about it.LOL
