November Hibernation Mode Series: 5 Things To Learn This Winter

Posted by Alexandra C. | Tuesday November 19, 20138 comments

So we're smack dab in the middle of November and I'm in full hibernation mode. Like I mentioned last week, I am all about the cozy nights in. News alert: the outside sucks. So stay in this month and do fun indoor activities instead (game night, anyone?). Hibernation mode also makes for the perfect time to catch up on your to do list. I have few things to cross off my list this season, including a few key skills I've always wanted to acquire. Now that I have a few spare nights in, it's my chance!

Here are 5 things I've decided to learn or try my hand at this November. Join me on my quest?

#1 French Braiding

I've never been able to French braid. (All those hair tutorials we do? Other people, sadly.) But I feel like I could do it if I really tried, plus with all the tutorials online, I can easily learn I think! Try this video tutorial for extra credit.

#2 Gettin' Crafty

I'm already a crafty chick but when winter hits, I become a total knit wit. I love a cozy scarf during the winter. Try embellishing, upcycling or creating a terrarium this year! I just picked up P.S. You're Invited... for some inspiration.

#3 Comfort Foods

Learn to make your favourite comfort food this season. For me, this is chicken pot pie. It makes for a lovely, warm and satisfying night in.

#4 Perfect Cat Eye

Alright chicks, this winter I resolve to spend time trying to perfect the impossible: the winged liner. We've got a few excellent tutorials to follow and tips and tricks to help you along the way.

#5 For the Foodies

Host a chocolate tasting party- yum, much? Have a glass of wine, eat some gourmet chocolates and surround yourself with your best gal pals for an excellent night.

I agree..I'm a book person, even more so in the winter. I knitted a lot this winter and enjoyed it. It's nice to be able to custom make exactly what you want in the colour and style that you like...try YouTube for some really great instructions.

I'd love to finally master the cat eye and do a french braid on myself. Seems easier than it is :(
