NY Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 Recap

New York Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2011 played it safe for the most part, bringing back past trends and sticking to a neutral colour palette.

COLOURS
ADAM, Herve Leger/Max Azria, Vivienne Westwood Red Label

Whites were huge, with careful forays into muted sands, beiges, chartreuse and mauve.

Julien Macdonald, DKNY, Diane Von Furstenberg

When colour explosions happened, they were dominated by cheery yellows, oranges, and reds.

Diesel Black Gold, Anna Sui, Ralph Lauren

The few prints were rather folksy and mostly stayed true to neutral colours.

SILHOUETTES
Naeem Khan, Alexander Wang, Badgley Mischka

Skirts were long and often full.

Marc by Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood Red Label, Michael Kors

We noted loose arms (and socks with Birkenstocks - shudder)...

Isaac Mizrahi, Proenza Schouler, Malandrino

...and baggy trousers.

Which trends are you most excited about?

So much colour! I'm always excited for spring. But then there is that last picture (especially the model in the middle) with the haggard baggy look that makes me glad it's fall and I don't have to look at that again for awhile.
