People-Watching in New York City: Hippies vs. Black & White

New York fashionistas bring out big style statements during Fashion Week.  Whether it's Fur, 1970s Hippie-chic or fresh takes on the classic Black & White, this is the time when style statements scream 'Go Big or Go Home'.

Hoda takes the '70s by the horns with this floor-length psychedelic patterned dress. She accessorizes with round oversized sunglasses and a structured brown bag. We're also loving her vintage-inspired jeweled bangles!

Natalie pairs a peasant-style skirt and top with a lovely wooden detailed belt to pull it all together. A crocheted handmade bag, brown lace-up heels, her side braid and low-key natural makeup really pulls this look together.

In contrast to the colorful and patterned '70s trend, we also saw plenty of classic black and white pairings. Many fashionistas used leather details to give it some edge:

Elana wears a stylish A-line mini with a pair of black opaque tights and an adorable ruffle detail white blouse under her satin black jacket. Leather shoes, bag and delicately detailed gloves punch up her classic outfit to give it some edge.

Emily looks fresh in her black and white ensemble: a silk ruffled white blouse and black leather mini with sequined detail. We love her adorable braid!

Which style statement are you most likely to take a risk with?

Love Hoda's look! But I doubt I could ever pull that off. Elena, Natalie, Emily all look so gorgeous! I love how unique the styles are but how each girl showed it off so well.

I also, love pieces of Elana's look - all together though for me, it's too much.

I think they all look great in their own way. I really admire people like Hoda who can pull off something that would look hideous on the rack (let's be honest) but if worn with the right attitude and accessories can look great on. I really like Natalie's look too.

I love people watching! Especially in New York! I love Hoda's look; she pulls it off so well... but I don't think I would be brave enough to try something like that. I'm also a big fan of Elana's look- that's something I would totally wear-- I just want to know where she got those adorable gloves from!!

Hooray for more people watching! I really like Natalie's outfit, I wouldn't wear that many layers but I think this look is really nice on her.
