Posing Wall: Meet Samantha

Hello everyone! My name is Samantha and I am the new Marketing Intern here at ChickAdvisor. I am so excited to join the team and can’t wait to get to know the community. To start with, let me introduce myself. I am a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa, where I completed my degree in Psychology and Business. Marketing has always been a huge passion of mine, so I am thrilled to have this opportunity to explore the industry and work with such creative individuals.

This past Fall I had the opportunity to visit six countries in Europe, and let’s just say I am definitely a victim of the travel bug! There is nothing more exciting than getting lost in a foreign country and fully experiencing the culture (and of course pigging out on some delicious food).

When I’m not seeking my next adventure, you can most likely find me plopped on my couch indulging in my favourite TV shows. I’ll admit it, I am a TV junkie. To the point where I had to create a schedule with the sole purpose of keeping track of my shows. Here are a few of my all-time favourites:

A fun fact about me is that, like the previous Marketing Intern, I too am a twin! And another fun fact about me is that the previous marketing intern is my twin. I hope that I am able to fill her shoes here at ChickAdvisor (not sure if this is possible as she wears a size 10!)

Lastly, because it is the New Year, I figured I would share one of my New Years' Resolutions with all of you. Now that I have graduated and am no longer forced to read, I want to revive my passion for reading. My goal is to read 50 books in 2014, so if anyone has any recommendations please help a sister out!

What are your New Year’s resolutions? Have you kept them so far? Can’t wait to chat with you all again, so feel free to drop by my profile and leave a message.

Welcome Samantha. I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job here at CA. Getting back to reading is a great resolution and it's something I've been trying to do as well since graduating. I love reading novels but I have also rediscovered my love of reading plays. If you haven't read them yet, I would suggest - A Streetcar Named Desire (Tennessee Williams), A Doll's House (Henrik Ibsen), and Death of a Salesman (Arthur Miller). I have really enjoyed reading these.

Welcome to CA Samantha! I'm sure you will do just as fabulous as your sister. You brought back some awesome memories with this post as well --- I have a picture of me & my little brother in that same wooden shoe! haha. That picture was almost 18 years ago. Crazy!

@wamwamwam I'm ashamed to admit I don't read many autobiographies, but I'd like to improve there. Maybe you can give me a suggestion? The only one I've read all the way through was 'Bossypants' by Tina Fey, and I would definitely recommend it!

I would also recommend E. Annie Proulx (specifically "Shipping News" and "Brokeback Mountain"), Margaret Atwood (specifically "Handmaid's Tale" and "Alias Grace"), Khaled Hosseini (specifically "Thousand Splendid Suns"), "Water for Elephants", the first 2 Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella (gets a little stale as the series progresses), classics like Jane Eyre, Pride & Prejudice, 1984, Lord of the Flies, and SOOO many more. For fantasy I like Game of Thrones but it's starting to plod a bit. I've read Crime & Punishment and Les Miserables, but you have to be cool with the style, speaking of plodding. For mystery/crime I like Ken Follett and the occasional James Patterson, but nobody matches the brilliance of Stephen King!

Welcome Samantha, love your pics! I don't do resolutions myself as I believe every new day is a chance to better yourself and others around you.

@mamaluv I am very well-rounded when it comes to my literary interests. Anything from a good autobiography to cheesy fictional romance to mystery/crime novels is right up my alley! PS: thanks for the welcome!

Welcome Sam! Great shoe pic :) I am a read-aholic, so happy to give you lots of suggestions. Which genres do you like?

Thanks @alidebold, I'm happy and excited to be a part of the team!

Sounds like you are off to a good start on your resolution, @scamp101! I know the broken down car situation all too well - glad to see you are making the best out of it! The picture is actually of me in Amsterdam, although I did get to visit France as well.

@TashaCat, Netherlands was AMAZING! I absolutely loved Amsterdam so much - such a unique city!!
