Hi everyone! I am rather excited to be introducing myself, as ChickAdvisor's new editor. I'll be working hard to be sure our blog includes a whole spectrum of fun topics and new trends. I will also get to work with the amazing team here at ChickAdvisor in Toronto and our many contributors, who've already made me feel so welcome. Here are five quick hits about what makes me tick:


(1) My family—especially my mom who let me read her fashion magazines and wear whatever craziness I thought was in style at the time (flannel pajama bottoms to school, head-to-toe daisy prints, her vintage jewellery from when she had her own store in Vancouver's Gastown). Here she is as a little one (in the middle) looking cuter than Sally Draper's lisp.


(2) Snowboarding—I love getting out on the mountain with friends whether it's new snow or spring slush, it's great to be out in the fresh air. I'm from B.C. so I grew up snowboarding and I always feel more calm after a day on the hill, it's like my yoga. Coincidentally I am doing some yoga on the snow here—a.k.a. Snowga—before heading up the slopes.


(3) Shopping—who doesn't like finding an amazing deal? I love spending time picking through aisles, websites, sale bins and shelves, it's always such a great feeling when you get something for less even if it's not for you but something you know a friend will love. My mom does this too, she found a dress she knew I'd love for $7 and mailed it out to me. I wear it all the time! For the record, I didn't buy the Porn For Women calendar, still regretting that choice.


(4) Meeting new people—here I am with a lady who wears more makeup than me. She wasn't open to giving any tips, but still, it was fun to chat with her. This picture is from a trip I got to take with M.A.C for their Venomous Villains collection, which I covered when I was an assistant editor at FASHION Magazine. I love travel and have got to go to some cool places for work, but this was the only time I've ever met a queen.


(5) Work—most days it doesn't feel like work though, just sharing all the cool stuff I love, reading what's got our contributors obsessing and the comments you all share (I really like those, so please keep those coming!). I'm really looking forward to hanging out with all of you online at ChickAdvisor!
