Prep for Fall with 5 Trendy Pieces

I was actually cold last night. Sigh. However, not all is lost. When you start to get down about the end of summer, just think - chunky knits, scarves and leather motorcycle jackets. Fall fashion just might be the best fashion. To start your fall prep and to help you transition your summmer wardrobe into a more practical fall one, here are 5 essential pieces to add.

Must-Have #1: Printed Trouser

What's a gal to do with all those great tanks, graphic tees, pastels or neons you have from summer? Pair them with a bold printed pant! A solid top with a printed bottom is an easy way to take an outfit to the next chic level. The trouser fit for fall is swaying more towards a looser, boyfriend fit. I love Banana Republic Leopard Skinny Ankle Pant (C$110.00)

Must-Have #2: Detailed Blouse

I feel like it's been a while since we saw great patterned blouses come into style, but I think a casual blouse in interesting prints is going to be big this fall. Not only are they cute, but detailed blouses help make a business suit more personable and way less blah. You can totally wear something like the Zara Polka Dot Printed Blouse (C$49.90) with your summer shorts, skirts or a trouser.

Must-Have #3: Midi Skirt

I'm all about the midi skirts. I do love minis or maxis, but come fall, I think midis are a refreshing change. Buying a staple like this skirt is an easy seasonal update for your closet. I love the ladylike fullness of this ASOS Midi Skirt with Stitch Waist Detail (C$49.93)

Must-Have #4: Boot

Ditch the flats and flip flops and try an ankle boot instead. That great jersey pencil skirt you wore all summer? Pair it with this Nine West x InStyle Collaboration Comete Black Calf Hair Boot (C$225.00, available August 16, 2013).

Must-Have #5 Cardigan

Cardis are such an easy fix for bringing your summer clothes into fall. Put a cardigan on that spaghetti strapped maxi or that tank you love and feel free to wear it to your office! I'm liking the simple colour blocking of this Club Monaco Margaux Cashmere Sweater (C$269.00)

What are you looking forward to wearing most this fall?

I personally don't particularly like any of these :/ I like parts of them but there's something that I do not like about each one.

Love everything except for the midi-skirt...being a fairly short girl I feel that this length will do me absolutely no favours! Boots are my favourite fall piece, and I agree with gl0ss that I'm excited to bust out my big chunky sweaters :)

Love most of these. Not sure the midi-skirt is my thing, though!
