Prom Make Up: Go Natural Like Scarlett, Rachel and Janelle

Posted by Lauren | Tuesday April 19, 20114 comments

One of the recent red carpet trends in makeup we're seeing on celebs like Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams and Scarlett Johansson is "less is more." You don't need your own makeup artist to copy these looks, just focus on emphasizing your natural beauty. The great thing about going simple this year at prom is you wont have any pictures to hide 15 years from now.

Prom is all about looking your best. So, you want to be sure the make up you use will stay with you through the entire night, look great in pictures! These products have been voted by you guys as the top beauty buys, check out the reviews and then decide which one will be the best for your special night.

Foundation

1.
 M.A.C Face and Body Foundation
"It feels like water going on the skin and will even out your skin tone. I also use it under my eyeshadow as a primer because the shadows just adhere to it so much better than the primers that are out there."
- tash7909

"It provides very light coverage, just enough to even out your complexion if you have fairly clear skin." - MarBear

2. Make Up Forever HD Invisible Cover Foundation
"I gave this one a try as I was looking for slight coverage, something to even out my skin tone, something that would last very well and that would give me that natural dewy finish.... and this foundation did just that! I get compliments on my skin every day."
- ra143

"This foundation has the best coverage and gives the most natural finish; my face actually looks flawless!" - abh24

3. Revlon PhotoReady Foundation
"It has a little bit of shimmer to it which helps to create a dewy look (it's subtle so you don't have to worry about finding sparkling glitter-chunks). It blends in easily and has a really nice texture."
- cavewomaninga

"The makeup lasted all day; from 8am to 10pm. The distribution of the product over my face and neck was very smooth and even. It covers all of the imperfections on my face and makes my pores look practically non-existent." - sparrow

Eyes and Brows

1
. Revlon Brow Fantasy
"It has staying power which is why I buy this. I like the gel it comes with, it’s good for taming the brows."
– Judy37

2. Maybelline New York Define-A-Brow Eyebrow Pencil
"
I have very light eyebrows and it's hard to find the right shade that looks totally natural. I love, love, love the blonde shade. It's perfect, and the pencil tip is fine enough and solid enough to go on smooth and makes it easy to follow the eyebrow line." - MaryGorgeous

3M.A.C Eye Shadow (in Crystal Avalanche)
"
This is the only product I will use on clients for weddings and all day events. No eye shadow stays on so well!" - shannondean

"For any occasion, I can go to my M.A.C store and find the perfect shade, whether it be bold and bright or neutral and elegant. They blend really nicely and have great staying power." - gsinc

4. Stila Kitten Eye Shadow
"The most versatile color for any skin tone. It's great as a highlighter under the brow bone or all over lid for a natural, quick and easy look."
- QueenJenny33

"The colour is the best part. It is a nice shimmery beige/egg shell that was really flattering. Really, really flattering. I instantly looked awake and fresh." - Billie123

5. Make Up For Ever Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector
"
It fills, defines and intensifies brows with natural-looking stay-put color. The results remain flawless throughout the day and hold up under all conditions (water, heat etc.)." - Imc1971

6. Maybelline New York Eye Shadow Quad (in Give Me Gold)
"
The eye shadow felt silky and was easy to apply, and it stayed on all day. The quality was the same as the high-end brands that I have used in the past. It looks like I am a Maybelline girl now." - Stargazer555

"I really like that each individual colour is a bit unique; they're not the run-of-the-mill shades that you can buy anywhere. This eye shadow is incredibly silky. Definitely worth the money, I say!" – Kaeli87

Lipstick

1. Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick (in Rapture)
"
I got this color in Rich, which is really more of a beige-y maroon color that matches my natural lip color nicely. The lipstick was moisturizing with great lasting power that doesn't take a load of make-up remover to take off. I would definitely recommend this line of lipstick for a nice matte finish and a great selection of colors!" – jchang2122

2.Clinique Almost Lipstick (in Black Honey)
"
This is really great stuff. I have tried numerous lip stains before, but this, I have to say, is one of the best. Black Honey gives my lips such a natural colour—like I just bit my lips for 15 minutes straight. It goes on like butter and keeps my lips hydrated." – iBlogBeauty

3Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick (in Fire Cracker)
"
The lipstick is so soft and the colour indeed lasts very long (taking into account that I drink water pretty much all day). I have already recommended it to my friends." - Dolce_Vita

"I bought 250 Birthday Suit. It is a soft, light brown, natural and neutral everyday color. I love it! It has become my go to everyday lipstick. It goes on smooth and the color is the exact same as when you look at the stick. The smell is amazing!" – antigone21

Rachel McAdams can really enhance her natural look! I really like the way her skin glows, but is super pale as well!

I wanted to try the HD make-up as soon as I heard about it, and now that I've read the reviews I thin it's probably worth it!
