Retro Hair with Martin Lim and Vidal Sassoon at Montreal Fashion Week
I have a soft spot for 90's nostalgia, so when I heard that the iconic 90's hair styling company Vidal Sassoon was revamping and relaunching its classic line of haircare from the 90's, I was excited to get my Cher from Clueless hair flip on.
Lucky for me, Vidal Sassoon was happy to let me check out their new collection. Plus, they showed me how they used the products to create a retro hair theme for designer Martin Lim's runway show at Montreal Fashion Week.
For this particular look, Lorraine McAndrew, Vidal Sassoon's expert hairstylist and Martin Lim were inspired by French singer and actress Françoise Hardy, popular in the 60's and 70's.
Pro Tip: Lorraine gave us the secret to this sleek, vintage inspired style. When blow drying, use high heat on low power to smooth out hair. Lift for volume at crown and bend at the ends.
Martin Lim's runway collection was futuristic meets 60's cabaret. Think fringe, go-go boots and mini skirts with sheers, panels and clean lines. The hair perfectly fit with this feel. It wasn't over done or over styled and this kept it fresh and modern.
There are six Vidal Sassoon styling collections: colour, moisture, repair, volume, smooth and styling & finishing. Vidal Sassoon is in stores right now and ranges in price from C$5.26-11.49.
What do you think of futuristic meets the 60's hair styles?
