Runway Report: Nail Trends for Spring 2012
I don't need to go into how obsessed I am with nail art, do I? This New York Fashion Week wasn't just about the clothes: the hair, make up and nails play a huge part. Here are some of the top trends in nail art we saw on the NYFW runways for Spring/Summer 2012.
Talon Nails (top left)
Cushnie et Ochs showed these almond shaped nails in earthy colours. The profile isn't new: Rihanna and Lady Gaga are two celebs we've seen sporting the look.
Vibrant Red (right)
Jason Wu and O.P.I. collaborated to create this unique shade called, "MonSooner or Later". A mixture of coral, red and orange, this shade is sure to be noticed. The models went matchy matchy with lipstick for an extra punch of colour.

Lucite Tips (bottom left)
One of the most buzzed about trends for spring 2012 is the lucite tip as seen on Joy Cioci courtesy of CND. The models have lace textured nails with clear plastic tips over top- is it crazy enough to work?
V-Shaped Half Moon Mani (top left)
Another take on the half moon mani is this look from Pamela Love and Essie. Instead of the expected curved moon shape they went with a deep V like a tuxedo for your nails- love it!
Checkered Nails (right)
Nicole Miller tried out some funky checkered nail art. This look is a bit younger, more fun than the others. We love the combination of deep blue and hot pink.

Reverse Mani (bottom left)
This street style photo is of a Fashion Week attendant. Her nails are a take on the half-moon manicure that was so popular in fall trends. The stark contrast of the fire engine red against her nude nails is so striking.
Which of these nail looks would you be tempted to recreate?

I'd wear the lucite tips, or the Deep V reverse mani. Love them!
Definitely love the tuxedo look!
It's true - Burt's Bees should hire me as their official spokesperson for all the people I've gotten to try their Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

I love the tuxedo nails!
I dig the lucite nails. That with sparkles on the tips would look really unique. Though I keep my nails short since I chip mine like no tomorrow.
I agree with takoda, some of these looks are just weird but I do like the V-Shaped Half Moon Mani
