Runway Report: Pattern and Colour Trends for Spring 2012

So, once again, New York Fashion Week is upon us! It kicked off with Fashion's Night Out where we saw some gorgeous celebrity style- check out our coverage over here! Moving onto the meat of NYFW- the collections and runway shows. Here is the Cole's Notes version of New York Fashion Week so far- quick, easy and exactly what you need to know to be trendy for spring.

Pantone released their spring colour trend predictions recently and these colours were definitely in abundance on the runway. Blues, yellows, oranges, pinks and mints were seen in water colour patterns, hibiscus florals and textured fabrics. You'll notice that these colours are continued from this summer season but like Derek Lam does, mix them with a neutral piece to keep it modern and fresh.

Take note fashionistas- white on white for Spring 2012 is a bit passé, but white accents like a great pump or stiletto are right on target!

What colours, prints or trends will you be rocking this Spring?

Am I really boring in that I don't like most of the collections here? It's just.... kind of ugly. Sorry :( I do sort of like the dresses on the bottom row. Maybe I just lack imagination?
