Should I Wear This: American Apparel Gloria V Bodysuit

I woke up Saturday morning (July 2nd) deciding that I needed a bathing suit. I trudged my way down to Yonge and Dundas for some much needed shopping, and somehow ended up at American Apparel. I was originally looking for this:

...a
Nylon Tricot Sport Chic Swimsuit (C$47.00), to pair with some simple navy shorts for a nice sporty look.

However, as I'm sure all of you have become victims of before, I got sidetracked and ended up with this:

...Something similar, but not a swimsuit.

Otherwise known as a Gloria V Bodysuit (C$55.00), this particular item has a gaping strip of nakedness all the way down to your hoo-ha. I went inside, gave one glance at it and it must have looked as if I was lusting at the body suit, because one of the salesmen came up to me, with these bright yellow short shorts and a wonderfully low tank top exclaiming "like oh my god, this body suit will look just SOOOOO cute on you with these (holds up super tight, super short, super green) shorts!"

I absolutely fell in love with this salesman, and decided to try it on. I came out, and decided that no, though it may have looked great on the hanger, short shorts are not designed for short stubby legs.

I tried it with a skirt though, or rather, I picked up a skirt, and matched it against the body suit only to have Mr. Yellow shorts shake his head and veto it.

We decided on a compromise. I'll buy the body suit, but not the skirt. I bought a similar skirt at Zara.

I came to work with the bodysuit and the pleated skirt from Zara (C$29.99):

Some questions while I was sitting at my desk, pulling out the tenth wedgie of the morning (as discreetly as I could):

1. Was this work appropriate?
2. I wonder if anyone else thinks I'm as naked-looking as I feel.
3. Was Mr Yellow shorts right? Do these not match?

I clearly need help. I paid quite a hefty price for this, and since it's not refundable, I need a good way to wear this!

Can you help answer some of these questions? Should I wear the Gloria V Bodysuit?

@Michelle. Haha, imagine me going to work at a bank with that on...I'd get shown the door immediately!

Totally love the look, especially with the short boots. I'd say some high waisted loose pants would also look great. But, not really an office look :)

I'm thinking that the fact that you're feeling naked might be a good indication ;) Cute outfit - depends where you work, I guess (creative space, quite possibly - banking? pharma? big business in general? Nope. But then again I'm thinking you probably already knew that)

I actually prefer the one you bought. I think it looks great with the red skirt! It's definitely a bit more on the risque side as far as office wear, but you found a way to make it classy!

nooooooooo no no not the tighter kind. Like the kind that makes ur butt look high but doesn't imitate spandex around your thighs :) very hard to find btw! I wouldn't want to pair a tight/sexy top with tight/sexy pants, too much tight and sexiness going on lol! I think top and bottom should even out the outfit. Like what you wore here, the top is sexy but the skirt is very pretty, feminine, creates a good balance. :) OTK - over the knee boots (I had to youtube that myself before I wrote it lol). I don't know much (or at all) about fashion but I figure that'll look good :)

And toronto actually feels like 49 today with the humidity!!! CRAZY!!

@Becky, well-fitted dress pants? Do you mean like..the tighter kind? or the kind that goes all the way up to your waist? I have a lot of black dress pants...what do you think of beige? and YES I was thinking
blazer might make it less boobage-ful, but it's just too hot! (Toronto = feels like 48! gah!)
Also, what is OTK? lol. Thanks for the advice!

@beachbabe Yes, a lot of people I've seen who've purchased the body suit wore it with short shorts, and I thought I'd be different...but I wasn't sure if it even matched O__O. A night out would be a great time to wear this now that you mention it! Maybe when it's less hot! :P

I looks really good on you!! I love how your face, makeup and hair looks conservatively beautiful, but your top looks so sexy! I personally wouldn't wear it only because I totally lack the self confidence to pull it off, but I think it looks great on you. I like the way you wore it with the bright red skirt and your shoes are so cute!! I think other ways of wearing it would be with well fitted dress pants, heels and a good blazer. Black mini-skirt and tall boots or OTK, I also think this top is perfect for clubs, lounges and restaurants. I don't think this would be suitable for every work place, but since you have an all girls (i'm assuming) fashion / beauty related work place, I imagine it's fine. :)

Good for you on trying something new!!

I think it looks great on you! It seems like it'll be hard to go to the washroom though but still the look is worth it! I don't know if it's appropriate for the office though but a night out will be great.
