I've already told you that lately, I can't stop day dreaming about fairy tales. Of course, I also can't stop day dreaming about the princes in them (but we'll leave that until our next Gratuitous Hottie Face Off). Seeing as I'm all about the romance and whimsy of these stories, I'm counting down the days until the new Snow White and the Huntsman movie is released (I'll be honest, I'm not a huge K-Stew fan but Chris Hemsworth does make me weak in the knees). 

In any case, right on time, Benefit released their Snow White and the Huntsman Rare Beauty Set (C$52.00). The set is inspired by Snow White and comes together to complete a simple, everyday look. We thought we'd put our own little spin on this and create a Snow White-esque face. 

Here's the basic outline for the Snow White look: 


What I like about it is that is really only contains a few elements. It's not over the top. It's a very natural, minimal face that aims to enhance your already pretty features. Think of it as a no makeup, makeup look. Now let's get into the details! 

Steps #1, 2, 4: Pre-Makeup Prep, Skin and Cheeks 


Before starting my makeup, I went about my daily skincare routine (which you can check out over here). To brighten my skin, I added 2. Live Clean Daily Glowing Serum (C$22.99) to my process. I also did a quick sweep with 3. Soap & Glory You Won't Believe Your Eyes (C$25.00) to reduce puffiness and dark circles.

I used 1. Benefit POREfessional, which came in the kit to prime my face. For my eyes, I used 6. Elizabeth Arden Advanced Eye Fix Primer (C$25.00). Then I applied my foundation and concealer as I normally would. I used Revlon PhotoReady Concealer (US$7.99) and Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation (C$46.00). 
 
Once my canvas was complete, I went in with blush to make my cheeks rosy and flushed. To achieve the 'natural beauty' that we're after, I recommend going for a cream blush or tint. I'm a fan of 8. Stila Convertible Color in Poppy (C$33.00) and 4. Benefit Benetint which comes in the set does a good job as well. I'm usually more of a powder blush fan so if you're like me I recommend trying Nars Blush in Liberte (C$32.00).

Once your blush is finished, you'll want to highlight for that illuminated and glowing complexion. I'm particularly fond of concealer/illuminator hybrids like 7. L'Oreal MagicLumi Concealer (US$9.99). I brought some highlighter into the corner of my eye as well as on my brow bone to make me look more awake and to make my eyes pop. The kit contains 5. Benefit Highbeam which blends really well to give a nice shine to your face.
 
Step #3: Lips 
 

Since this look is inspired by Snow White, you'll want to copy those luscious, ruby red lips of hers, for this, try a lipstain. You can actually use the Benetint for your lips as well as your cheeks. However, I find that I don't like using the same brush for my cheeks and lips. Plus, I seriously suggest seeking out a lipstain to have for everyday looks. They're fabulous because they are long lasting and so well in the summertime heat. 

Try 1. Sephora Lush Flush Lip and Cheek Stain (C$16.00). For extra pigmentation, lightly dab and rub in a red lipstick. I love the colour of this 2. Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture SPF 15 Pure Colour Satiny Radiance Lipstick (C$38.00).
  
Steps #5: Eyes and Finishing Touches 
 

The eye makeup for this tutorial isn't very complicated or technical. I used 5. Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil in Smoky Black (US$16.50) to lightly line my upper lid, right near the lash line. I used the sponge tipped end of the pencil to smudge the line out for a subtle smoky eye. 6. L'Oreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner (US$7.97) is a comparable product, excellent for creating a smoky look.

I applied a few generous coats of 1. Benefit BADgal mascara (which came with the set) on my top and bottom lashes. For this look, definitely look for a volumizing mascara that promises thick and full lashes. I also like 4. Maybelline Volum' Express Mega Plush Mascara (C$8.99) for this. If you wanted to go all out, try using some false lashes as well. 

I finished off the look with an all over sweep of transculent powder and 2. Benefit's Dr. Feelgood (C$35.00) for a matte complexion. For translucent powders, I wanted something light that wouldn't cake up. Try 7. Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder (C$35.00) and for a less expensive alternative, 3. Essence Mattifying Compact Powder (US$2.99) does a pretty good job.

I love how my lips really stand out against my dark eyes and pale skin. I will definitely try this look out again! What do you chicks think? Is this something you'd try?
