Sparkling Summer Sangria Recipe
Fruity Sangrias are popping up on menus everywhere because of their communal potential - ideal for outdoor entertaining on the patio. This easy-to-make and refreshing crowd pleaser goes quickly so you may want to double the recipe.
2 750 mL bottles of white wine or Prosecco (sparkling wine)
1 1 L (1 qt) bottle of sprite or club soda
2 1 L (1 qt) bottles of peach (and white grape, if available) juice
2 cans frozen fruit punch concentrate
splash of Triple Sec
cut up fruit (peach chunks, berries, orange/lemon/lime slices)
fresh sprigs of mint
plenty of ice
Mix all ingredients into a large cooler, as pictured.
A good white wine to try is Jackson-Triggs Proprietors' Grand Reserve White Meritage from 2007 (LCBO $24.95 / 750 mL bottle), offering citrus and tropical fruit aromas. Prosecco is the sparkling wine known best for its use in Bellinis; however it works well with this recipe also. We suggest the Prosecco Di Valdobbiadene (LCBO $14.10 / 750 mL bottle).
The beauty of Sangria is that anything goes – switch the white wine to red, add some darker fruits like frozen grapes, swap the peach juice for a cranberry cocktail and viola - a new flavour!
If you love the fruitiness of Sangria but are looking for something a little stronger and daring, check out our Blueberry Mojito recipe.

Looks great! What a good way to add some colour and flavour to a BBQ! I wonder how it would be if you were to put fresh peppermint leaves inside? | |
Wow that sounds (and looks) delicious... I can not wait to drink it! |
