Spring 2011 Hair Trend: The Low Ponytail

Posted by Claire | Monday February 7, 201111 comments

Last year we saw the topknot, the pixie and ombré colour as the big hair trends.  Early in 2011, all signs are pointing to The Ponytail.  And the reason we're so excited is that at last we have a hairstyle most of us know how to recreate at home.

(Looks like all those bad-hair-turned-ponytail days paid off in spades, no?)

We saw it on the Spring/Summer 2011 catwalks...
Jessica Jensen & Alexander Berardi (Toronto), DKNY (New York)
Chanel (Paris), Carolina Herrera (New York)

...and more recently, at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards.
Amy Adams (SAGs), Jennifer Lopez (Globes)
Kyra Sedgwick (Globes), Julianna Margulies (SAGs)

While the look from the runway was low on the nape and with a strong part, celebs wore a mix of middle- and low-placed 'dos.

Are you excited about this trend?  Or does this casual look leave you rather underwhelmed?

I gravitate towards the high pony's more, but I am loving Kyra Sedgwick's hair. Also, the side low pony always looks so chic.
