St. Patrick's Day Drink Recipe: DIY Shamrock Shake
(image via livelovepasta.com)
Ah, St. Patrick's Day, the holiday devoted to drinking beer, wearing green and of course, the limited time Shamrock Shake at McDonald's! Now, why should the Shamrock Shake be only available seasonally? I'm all about the minty green anytime of the year! Which is why, I devised a delicious DIY version for myself so I can enjoy this beverage anytime I want!
If you want to make one for yourself or perhaps a few lucky others, simply follow the instructions. Now, here's the very best part of this recipe, you can make this for the kids or throw in a little bit of vanilla vodka (can you say yum?!) for a more adult themed shake!
Here what you'll need:
Blender
Vanilla Ice Cream
Peppermint Extract
Green Food Colouring
Milk
Chocolate Syrup
Vanilla Vodka - optional (p.s. I found whipped cream flavored vodka too which I thought would be delicious- have you guys tried or heard of this before?)
Pour the ice cream and about 1/8- 1/4 cup of milk into the blender. Add about 1 tbsp of chocolate syrup, not too strong, you just want a hint!
Add a few drops of peppermint extract. Extract is strong, so be careful not to overwhelm your shake! Put in some of the green food colouring. You'll probably need about 6 drops.
If you're looking for a more adult shake, add in about a shot of vanilla vodka. Or, if you don't have this on hand you can use plain vodka and some vanilla extract.
Blend together, pour in glass, top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings and voila, a shamerock shake all ready for St.Patty's!
