Staff Picks: Alexandra's 5 Spring Beauty Favourites
Maybe it's that Mr. Sun has finally started showing his face around here or that I've finally gotten my skin issues under control. Or maybe it's just that I've been in a really good mood lately, but I am absolutely loving my current beauty routine. I've been testing out a few new things recently and either I've had a streak of good luck or these products are darn good.
I wanted to share a few of my favourites with you because when you find something you absolutely adore, you just have to spread the word!
#1 Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation (US$9.99): I've decided that this is going to be my go-to foundation for the summer. It's similar to Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid Makeup in that it gives good coverage while being light and letting your skin breathe. It's a great price for the quality of the product.
#2 Goody Double Wear Floating Beaded Elastics (C$5.49): I've always thought theses were nice, but just couldn't be bothered. Who really cares about elastics? After our 20 Hair Accessories for Instant Glam article, I gave them a go and I'm embarrassed to say that I really care about elastics. These are great and they actually look really cool on my wrist as a bracelet.
#3 Lush Sikkim Girls Gorilla Perfume (C$19.95-49.95): I first read about this perfume on Beauty Editor and because I have a lady crush, I bookmarked the page and immediately went to Lush to test it out. As soon as I put it on my skin, I knew I had found my new signature scent. It's made from essential oils - I love that it is more natural. It's exotic, warm and spicy with scents of jasmine and vanilla. It settles so beautifully on the skin and lasts all day.
#4 Boots No. 7 Hot Cloth Cleanser (C$13.00): I first mentioned the hot cloth cleansing method here, but I hadn't tried it until I started having some serious issues with my skin and needed to find a moisturising, gentle cleanser. I've fallen head over heels for this cleanser. Not only does it feel like a lux mini spa experience, but I've found that my skin really reacts well to the cream cleansing. It feels so soft afterward!
#5 Baths: Nothing new in this idea! I have fallen in love with taking a bath. Is that kind of a weird thing to say? I've never been a bath taker before, so it came as a surprise to me just how much I enjoy it. It's just a wonderful way to take 30 minutes for yourself. Plus, I've stocked up on some bath goodies for extra great skin come summer. Here are a few:
1. Ahava Dead Sea Mud Natural Body Mud (C$20.00)
2. Lush Porridge Soap (C$6.95)
3. Korres Showergel (C$22.00)
4. Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment (C$6.99)
Are there any beauty products that you've tried and loved lately? Why not share them with the rest of us!

I would love to get some of those elastics! They're cute!!!
If you are going to bathe regularly, you should really try bath salts. Epsom Salts are great for relieving muscle aches and stress and are relatively inexpensive.

I love Dianne Lai daily moisturizer... omg, it even has lavender in it.
I'd be interested in trying that perfume. I have been cutting back on all the product I use, so I don't really have any new favorites as of yet.
I love baths too! It's also a new thing for me, I find it's the best way to relax...it forces you to get away from your phone, computer, and tv. I usually just sprinkle in some epsom salt, calgon bath pearls, and light a nice candle. Once a week i'll do a face mask (lately i've been using the Freeman Dead Sea Minerals clay mask) and do a hot oil treatment with olive oil for my hair. And of course a good book!
I miss Lush!I think its time to place an order...
