Staff Weekend Lookbook: Ali's Summer Basics
I used to think that dressing well meant you had a fancy top and stylish bottoms or a nice dress. But my husband taught me that simple basics like white or black t-shirts and tank tops go a looong way. They are easy to accessorize and you don't look too 'try' - you get me?
On Fridays after work, I like to go on a date with my two boys. We usually go out for dinner somewhere close to home. I found this amazing skirt on sale at J.Crew. I'm seriously considering going back for more colours. With a plain white t-shirt, neutral necklace and shoes, the skirt really stands out.
If I haven't been lazy and ordered Grocery Gateway, Saturday is my day to go to the market and stock up on fruits, veggies and other essentials. Lately I'm obsessed with stripes. They are the best. This dress was a steal and it's super soft and comfy. Can you guess how much?
The earrings are from Psalms 91.1 Accessories, a Toronto based designer I'm a big fan of.
Ah, Sunday Brunch. Did you know brunching is a sport in Toronto? Who can find the best new brunch spot? Can you beat the lineup? Who serves up the best French Toast? Well that last one may be my personal mission.
This outfit looks expensive but it wasn't. Pairing basics with a nice bag and necklace really takes the whole look up a notch. The top was $10 on sale from J.Crew, the shorts were on sale from The Gap (when they go down even further in price I'm stocking up on more!), and I find that putting your hair up in a fancy bun makes everything look more expensive. The necklace is Banana Republic and the bag is Michael Kors.
Guess the price of my stripey dress and someone will win a prize!
