Summer Beauty Trend Alert: 5 Ways To Wear Brights
If the spring runways and summer beauty collections are anything to go by, we're in for a bright summer! Bold shades of blue, pink, teal and purple are some of the hottest beauty trends to jump on for the upcoming season.
Understandably, most people shy away from brights. It's easy to get shadow-happy and go a bit too far, making you look like you've just stepped out of a time machine from 1985. However, wearing brights is not impossible! We have 5 ways for you to pull off the bright colour trend without doing a great impression of Boy George!
#1 Smoky Eye: The key to wearing a colourful smoky eye is balancing it out with a neutral, minimal makeup face and nude lips. Obviously the examples below are more high fashion! For everyday wearability, try sticking with one or two shades of the same colour.
1. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Loose Colour Concentrate (C$17.00)
2. MAC Fashion Sets Collection Eye Shadow (C$18.00)
#2 Coloured Lashes: Coloured lashes emphasize your eye colour and draw focus with the over the top appeal of a smoky eye. If you're nervous about attempting a full on coloured lash look, try just coating your bottom lashes.
1. blinc Kiss Me Mascara (C$24.00)
2, Hard Candy Lash Call Lengthening Mascara (C$5.98)
#3 Matte Lip: Lighten up this summer with a fuchsia or coral bright matte lip. We love this lip with a bare, fresh face, groomed brows and glowing skin.
1. Becca Ultimate Matte Lip Colour (C$28.00)
2. Joe Fresh Matte Lipstick (C$6.00)
#4 Liquid Liner: If you want a pop of colour but nothing too dramatic, a gorgeous cat eye makes a great statement. It's subtle enough to wear during the day, yet add a thicker line or pair with a bolder lip and it turns into a sensational night look. Extra points for using Pantone's colour of the year, emerald like Mandy did here.
1. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (C$22.00)
2. NYX Cosmetics Studio Liquid Liner (C$7.00)
#5 Lower Lash Line: We loved Stella McCartney's teal lash line so much, we recreated it ourselves! The teal is an easy way to bring out eye colour. We love that it's a simple addition and doesn't take much time or effort but it looks very chic and modern.
1. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner (C$26.00)
2. NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner (C$28.00)
Will you wear brights this summer?

I already do the lower lash-line colour, but I want to try the matte lip.
I've been wearing purple since January. Brought the blues out in March, and the greens in April!

I love the lower lash line pop of color, I do it a lot, my favorite colors to do it with are teal and green. I am also loving matte lipstick, although I have yet to own any.
I'm all about a bright statement lip, however, sometimes it's also fun to use a bright eyeliner on the top lashline, esp in the summer! :)
Coloured mascara <3 I need to find me some of that...!
I'm all about a bright lip but I do like the #5 look...maybe i'll give it a try very soon! I have green eyes so i'm not sure the teal would pop much but I think @LadyFlash gave me an ideal with the violet color! :)
I'm with mamaluv, I have worn teal on my bottom lash line and I love it! I have been looking to get my hands on a nice matte coral lip colour, I will have to try the Becca one out!

Love the lips and the eyeliner, but the whole eyelid that bright is a bit much for real life. |
