Tea and Fruit and Candy - oh my! 6 DIY Crazy Cocktail Combos

Posted by Alexandra C. | Friday May 3, 20139 comments

Last year around this time, I did a little infusion magic with vodka and Jolly Ranchers. It was awesome (if I do say so myself). Some 7 Up and Sprite added to the mix and I was ready to hit the BBQs with summer cocktail in hand. This time around, I'm ready to take infusion to the next level. I'm going to be experimenting with new flavours and liquors.

Want to come with me on this foodie journey? Of course you do, there's booze involved!!

Don't let the word 'infusion' scare you. It's really just a fancy way of saying, "let it sit there for a really long time". The trick to infusing is to choose the right flavours and liquor so that they mesh well. To get you started, I have 6 infusion recipes:

Infusion #1: Bubblegum Vodka

In my world, candy is an acceptable meal. For those with a sweet tooth, try this vodka infused with bubblegum. Mix with lemonade for a picnic appropriate drink!

Infusion #2: Pineapple Mango Rum

Mmmm! Looking to get away on your own private island but funds are an issue? Join the club. Why not pour yourself a delicious mixed drink with pineapple mango rum, instead? All the island-esque flavours but less expensive than actually going.

Infusion #3: Orange Cinnamon Scotch

This one may not be for everybody, but I'm sure it'll be citrusy with a hint of spiciness. I think this would be especially delicious come fall and winter.

Infusion #4: Cucumber Infused Vodka

Fresh and quenching, this one would be amazing served in a mixed drink or martini. And of course, the best way to drink it is while laying on a beach chair.

Infusion #5: Melon Mint Vodka

Melon and mint is one of my favourite flavour combos. Mix with ginger beer and lime juice for the perfect party drink!

Infusion #6: Chai Vodka

I love chai tea, so a spiked chai tea is right up my alley. Let loose chai tea leaves sit for a few hours. Create a spiced martini or mix with iced tea.
