Tip Tuesday: 6 Beauty Blunders Solved
We all make mistakes. Especially when it comes to beauty. Myself, I've been known to apply just ever too much blush and bronzer. Fortunately, we're here to help with a few simple cheats to help you clean up any beauty blunders you may make!
#1 Did you get mascara where it doesn't belong?
Clean up your eyes or any small mistake with a pointed cotton swab dipped in makeup remover and dab it before wiping. Look for makeup remover pens for eye makeup blunders. If you have a tendency to go too far up or down with your shadows, try doing your eye makeup before your foundation. That way you can clean it up with a wipe.
Try:
QTips Cotton Swabs, Precision Tip (US$8.49)
e.l.f. Studio Makeup Remover Pen (US$3.00)
#2 Did you go a bit overboard on the smoky eye?
Remember: less is more. It's easy to get liner or shadow happy when trying out a smoky eye. If your makeup is veering towards looking like a Disney villain, blend it out with a lighter, champagne or white shadow. Add some shadow under the brow and in the inner corner to lighten it up. If you don't have time to do your eye makeup in the morning, doing the under brow shadow takes only about 2 minutes and gives you a more polished, awake look.
Try:
NYX Cosmetics Single Eye Shadow in Aloha (C$8.00)
MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom (C$18.00)
#3 Did you want fuller looking lashes?
To avoid that 'floating' look on your lighter, bottom lashes and to give the illusion of full, voluminous lashes, use an angle brush and a black shadow. Lightly apply as close to the lash line as possible. An angle brush and a shadow also makes for a great, softer alternative to a liner.
Try:
Sephora Collection Classic Angled Liner/Eyeliner Brush #15 (C$18.00)
NARS Eyeshadow Single (C$28.00)
Sonia Kashuk Core Tools Bent Eyeliner Brush - No 107 (US$5.99)
#4 Did you pluck before your makeup?
Visine or any eye drop can help bring down any redness in the just plucked area.
#5 Did you go overboard with your mascara?
Apply one too many coats and now it's clump city? Save those old mascara wands (or sneak some sample ones next time you're at Sephora), clean them and use them to separate lashes.
#6 Did you get fallout?
Like we suggested before, try doing your eye makeup before your foundation. Failing that, pick up loose powder by lightly pressing with a piece of tape.
So now I want to hear from you! Do you have any tips or tricks for dealing with beauty blunders?

I like the smokey eye tip...GUILTY!
I love using angled brushes on my top lash lines!
I always do the trick where I apply a lot of extra powder under my eye when I do my eyeshadow, then wipe it away after. Usually does the job but i'm gonna look into the tape!
When I want to wear winked eyeliner, I do it first. That way I can erase any mistakes, then put on eyeshadow and go over the eyeliner as a final step
Awesome tips!! I have to use the visine one next time. In addition to using tape to remove fallout I also use it before applying eyeshadow. I usually go too crazy on the outer corners and lose the definiton so to avoid that, i put tape diagonally along the outer corner of my eye and that protects the area from excess eyeshadow.
These are great, thanks!
I also love the Q Tips, they're so handy! I've never heard of using tape to pick up eyeshadow though, will have to give that a try.
Interesting about the Visine on plucked areas!
