Tip Tuesday: Easy DIY Makeup Station
Every chick needs a battle station. A fortress of solitude where you get ready to face the day, store all your precious pieces, and can sit back and spend some quiet time alone. In this case, we're talking about your makeup vanity.
A proper vanity doesn't usually come cheap and can be hard to find. So when we recently stumbled upon a super duper nifty DIY option for a vanity made from Ikea, hardware and dollar store finds, well-- we knew it was a winner.
Check this DIY'd baby out:
This entire cost of this project is around $150. As long as you have a few basic Ikea-worthy construction skills, you should be able to pull this off.
Here's what you'll need:
1. Ikea Vika Veine Desktop Table in Brown, White (C$99.00, each)
2. Ikea Adils Leg (C$3.50, each)
3. Sylvania Golden Dragon Bright White LED Light Brushed Stainless Finish (C$14.99)
4. Sylvania Linear Dragon Bright White LED Light (C$16.95)
The battery operated touch lights are attached with velcro as are the pouches to hold brushes, made from felt from the dollar store. Trays and baskets are stored on the interior.
Easy peasy, no? This modern look is a nice take on the traditional vanity. I love the contrast of basic dark brown and white. The clean, simple design looks great in any space.

Ohh.. I love this... I have been looking for a vanity, this one is so cute..
Hi there! | |
I would definitely do this. I've been considering how to configure a dedicated makeup space. May make some modifications on this original design.
If I had the space, I'd set that up in a heartbeat!

too much trouble | |
We don't have an Ikea where I live, bummer! :( I sure wish someone would build one here and soon!! I hear so much about the different things you can buy there and for good prices too. I have all of my makeup and makeup tools in cardboard boxes of all things and could really use this. For now I'm just trying to find a nice makeup case that will hold everything I have in one place.
Great idea! | |
I could absolutely use this! I have the tiniest bathroom! |
