Tips and Tricks for Getting the Perfect #Selfie

Are you a #selfie taker? Fellow CA staff member Miranda is a selfie addict. I just caught her taking one as we got into the elevator on our way to lunch, just sayin'. I myself, am not a huge fan of selfies. They make me self conscious and usually I end up the one behind the lens instead. Of course, we're all our own worst critic. How many times have you snapped a selfie, checked it out and deleted immediately because you didn't like your smile/hair/eyes?

Well, it's time to start the #selfierevolution. We're here to help you get the perfect selfie that you'll be proud to share. It's about enhancing your features and a few tips and tricks that will bring your sparkling personality to the front.

Using flash? Oil can reflect light and make you look way too shiny and greasy. Use a mattifying powder or a setting spray to set makeup and keep oil at bay.

1. CoverGirl TruMagic Skin Perfector (US$9.99)

2. Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray (C$35.00)

3. Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Agent Zero Shine (C$36.00)

Find your shade: this goes for all non-selfie related activities as well, but it's important to find the correct shade for your foundation or concealer. A "mask" of foundation becomes even more obvious in a photo and ladies, filters don't hide everything. Take it from someone who knows.

4. CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup (US$9.04)

ANGLES MATTER. O.M.G. Do they ever. Just watch this video. Here's a quickie checklist for your selfie:
- Point your camera downwards
- Tilt your head
- Stick out your neck
- Squint slightly

Don't let your features disappear. Use a good mascara and check out this article on how to make your eyes appear larger.

1. YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Babydoll (C$36.00)

2. CoverGirl Bombshell Volume by Lashblast (US$11.99)

3. Sephora Collection Outrageous Volume Dramatic Volume Mascara (C$18.00)

Celebrate the fact that you got a brand new 'do or your winged liner is ACTUALLY straight this morning with a selfie, show that face of yours off!

Let me know chicks: to selfie or not to selfie? That is the question.

I'm not big on taking selfies myself but since my friends have finally convinced me to join instagram, that might change. Is that Covergirl TruMagic Skin Perfector a powder? I haven't yet seen that in stores in my area.

Personally, I prefer taking selfies over having someone take my picture! haha. I always find that I look awkward, and get really self conscious about it.
