Top 5 Fall 2014 Lip Colour Trends
Red lips, nude lips, metallic lips… blue fish. #WhateverITried.
#WittyIntroAboutFallLipColoursFail.
Here at ChickAdvisor HQ, we have researched the top fall 2014 lip colour trends, and for your benefit tried them on ourselves. Though nothing, not even the trends gods, can dissuade me from wearing bright lips every day, there are a few notable products worth trying.
Let’s start with the most obvious trend and work our way down to the most alarming. I apologize in advance as I know we are actively enabling your makeup addiction.
The Top 5 Fall Lip Colour Trends:
1. Nude Lips
Every fall, since the dawn of time (or whenever lipstick was invented) Nude lips are one of the strongest fall lip stories. It’s usually paired with a smokey eye, although this year you can also wear it with bold coloured eyeliner, which I fully support. Try Maybelline New York Color Show Kohl Liner in Turquoise with Cle de Peau Beaute Extra Rich Lipstick in #101.
2. Blood Red Lips
This trend will be in style every Fall until you die. If you do not have a blood red lipstick in your makeup collection, go out and buy one now. A bold red lip will make your teeth look whiter and give you a sexy minx like you already are - assuming of course you are taking good care of your teeth and using Arm & Hammer™ Truly Radiant™ Toothpaste every day (obviously). Try: Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Crimson. I am obsessed with these lipsticks.
Hint: You should apply No Bleeding Lips Secret Lipliner before applying any bold colour.
3. Stained Lips
This trend irritates me a bit because it’s neither here nor there. I'd rather have bold, in your face lips. Directions: Smudge a little bit of your favourite lip colour in the middle of your lips, yawn, mash your lips together, yawn again and there you have it! It’s a pretty noncommittal look. But if this is your bag, I recommend at least using something fabulous like Shiseido Lacquer Rouge.
4. No Lips
This is an insult to lipstick. An insult! Unlike Nude Lips, you aren’t faking wearing nothing, you truly aren’t wearing anything at all. I forbid it on the basis of being boring.
5. Metallic Lips
Horrors! While I appreciate the whole “trying something new” angle here, there is a reasonable chance this will make you look freaky. You might want to consider limiting the number of #selfies you take with this because the Internet is forever. But I have heard good things about Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar: Metallic.
And there you have it! Which of these trends do you plan to try?

metallic lips?!? uuhh.. no thanks!!
I'm still into lips looking natural, but better, so I think this is a trend I'll be skipping.
Nude lips bother me. I loved the coral orange lip of summer and am embracing the burgundies of fall. I will stain away!
Love red lips, but its too loud for office!
That metallic lip tar looks neat.
I wear the no lip most of the time but sometimes the red bold lips is great but not metallics lips that for eyeshadow!!!
Love red lips and deep metalic purple, but both colours make my lips look so small!
I love a nude lip, it's my go-to... but I love a bold red too. Agree the no-lip is just insulting... lol |
