Toronto's One of a Kind Show Spring Show and Sale

Starting today in Toronto, Canadian artists, designers and artisans are proffering their creations at the spring One of a Kind Show. We checked out the show this morning, and here are some of our picks of what to check out.

Hamilton's Jenna Rose offers pillows, tea towels and hampers—like the one above, left—in whimsical textiles we'd love to fill a cottage with, if we had one. This bird house from StudioLiscious is just one of their modern takes on familiar items that range from wooden spoons to coat hooks. There's plenty of baby clothes and items to decorate a child's room offered at the show, but the designs of Poids Plume and their use of organic materials really caught our eye.

The variety and craftsmanship of the bags on offer at One of a Kind are exceptional. From left: A dry wax bag from Toronto's Hoi Bo, a handmade leather satchel from Cha Cha, and Brooklyn, N.Y. based Corrente's cool leather flap.

This pretty print dress by Stefanie Bezaire is perfect for spring, her styles are designed for women in the 12 and up size range, and the shapes are ultra feminine. A perfect gift for a busy mom is one of DaLish Cosmetic's easy-to-use products, and her collaboration with handbag designer Jessica Jensen is a perfect introduction to her line.

Don't forget the food! Come hungry, there's everything from sauces and marinades (great timing for BBQ season) to sweets and savories. Bruce Country Nut & Fudge Co. have everything you'd expect from their name, as well as artful candy apples that are as big as a baseball. Another sweet gift idea is one of the many flavoured shortbreads from Coach House all wrapped in pretty paper rolls—Pecan, Lemon and Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt had us drooling.

There are 118 artists and brands on offer this year, with everything from toys to jewellery to art for your walls. The show runs until Sunday, April 3 at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place, 100 Princes' Blvd., Toronto. Visit oneofakindshow.com for details about hours and tickets.

Will you be checking out the One of a Kind Show, and if so, what are you hoping to find?

I was thinking about how many things you could pick up as gifts at that show.... you wouldn't have worry about giving a duplicate.

I've always wanted to go to this show but I usually hear about it too late! Maybe I'll check it out this week, it looks like you can get really unique items!

The bird house was really cool! Only $50 too, and so I think it would make a cute housewarming or wedding gift. Of the bags, I liked the Hoi Bo the best. It's really light since it's waxed canvas, so being big doesn't mean it's going to weigh a ton.
