Trending in Fashion: The Hidden Wedge Sneaker

It seems to me like the hidden sneaker wedge just kind of came out of nowhere. I guess you could say that the trend really 'sneaked' up on me. Yikes, bad pun. I apologize.

In any case, the hidden sneaker wedge is officially the 'it' shoe of the summer, as seen on celebs and street style chicsters alike. The Isabel Marant 'Willow' wedge sneaker is probably the most often spotted style of this shoe. Check out celebs like Ashlee Simpson (1), Dakota Fanning (2) and Rashida Jones (3) all sporting it:

Even with these very style crush worthy ladies wearing the shoe, I can't say that I am fully on board. I just can't seem to wrap my head around such a crazy hybrid shoe. I just don't get the appeal. If I wanted to wear sneakers, I'd wear sneakers. If I wanted to wear wedges, I'd wear wedges. Never in my life have I ever thought to myself, 'gee, I wish I could wear both sneakers and wedges at the same time'.

But maybe that's just me? I guess I do kind of like the idea of a comfy shoe that offers some height. Though, I think I'd like any shoe I wore to be more stylish, less casual. I will admit that I do find the the whole hidden wedge thing kind of cool.

What do you make of these hidden wedge sneaker options?

2. Jeffrey Campbel Gio Hidden Wedge Sneaker (C$217.40)
3. Isabel Marant Sneaker via mytheresa.com
4. Ash Cool Suede Strapped Wedge Sneakers (US$230.32)
5. MARC by Marc Jacobs Runway Colorblock Wedge High-Top Sneaker (US$214.00, on sale)

They don't look very fashionable, I've never been a fan of high tops. If I want height I will just wear a comfy pair of wedge sandals this summer.

I absolutely love these! They are hip, trendy and look quite comfortable. I love wearing sneakers, but I also like wearing heels because I'm shorter - This is the perfect combination for me! Loveeee.

I might could possibly maybe like the lace-ups but the velcro versions are just too Back To The Future Part II for me. High tops in general bring back unpleasant memories of the '80s. No thanks!

My interest is peaked!
I would like to try a pair on!
If they don't look huge, then i'd be down! :)
Comfort and height at the same time sounds fabulous! :)

I don't think this sneaker trend will last long. They don't look very
comfortable to me and when I'm in my sneakers I want to be comfortable.
I'm thinking they'll be out by the end of this summer.

I'm already tall enough, I don't think I would ever wear them. I think they look good on Ashlee Simpson, but all the other styles I don't really like :/
