Trending in Fashion: The Statement Headband
If the previously discussed princess-esque headchains were a little out of your comfort zone but you still want to play with a headpiece trend this fall, you need to go out and get yourself a statement headband.
Dolce and Gabana really hit it out of the park in their fall 2012 show when they put gloriously baubled headbands on model's heads (yes, gloriously baubled is a thing). The baroque influence with pearls, gold details and just the right amount of gaudiness and extravagance. Chanel pulled a bit of headband and a bit of headchain together to come up with their strings of pearls and jewels wrapped around the models' hair.
Celebrities have recently taken the headpiece trend to the red carpet as well. Singer Lana Del Rey is a fan of the statement floral crowns. Kristen Dunst pulls off a very feminine and pretty up do with jewels and Keira Knightly does a bit of both with a boho milkmaid braid.
I adore this look. I think it's so pretty and sweet. Plus, it's a quick way to give an extra something to a messy bun or otherwise plain up do. I'm not totally convinced it can be pulled off in everyday life. I found a few options online that look great in theory, but again, I don't know if I have the face or hair to work them. I actually own a very large flower headband that I've always been too nervous to bust out but I'm considering it now!
1. Deepa Gurnani Multi Sead Bead Stretch Headband With Crystals (C$51.74, on sale)

What do you think of this trend? Will you be partaking in it?

I also adore this look....There is a young cashier in my local grocery store that I commented to her that I liked her headband and she said she made it that they are getting so popular.....In my generation it was the horrid headbands that we wore across our foreheads and those were not attractive!

I've always been a headband fan... since the 70's!!! I like how the styles have grown over the years.
I'm all about the head bands! Really like #4!
Love your picks and I too love this look! Also, since I design and create headbands for a living, I am pretty happy they are trending :). |
