We Love Fridays: Edible Spray Paint

Have you ever wanted to eat a golden apple? Or perhaps a blue orange? Maybe some silver ham? I know I have. I mean, why wouldn't you?

That's the idea behind this German company: The Deli Garage. Their product 'Esslack' is an edible spray paint, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like:

The paint has no taste, it simply coats food in a fun colour. Seriously, who wouldn't want to gnaw on a golden ham at Thanksgiving. Talk about classy!

I love the contrast in these photos. In a way, it's kind of creepy and yet so alluring! I just can't help but be curious. I'm wondering if the paint stains your mouth/tongue/teeth/skin?

Gold lobster?! Yes, please. I'm all over this. Unfortunately, the company is not shipping to North America yet, but I'm hoping it's only a matter of time.

What do you think of this? Is it something you'd ever try out or eat? And what would you try it on?

I don't think I'd use this on my food because it looks so weird and unnatural.. It might be cool to use on cupcakes though but why not just use food colouring? I'd probably never use this so I wouldn't buy it.

I'm not sure if I'd eat something from this either. I mean, it looks really cool, but doubt I'd use on my food. lol

I don't know how I feel about this! It's purple/green ketchup all over again...

I love the idea but I don't think I'd feel good about eating it. Even if it's proven to be 100% safe I still prefer to eat my foods more naturally.

Oh I don't think so. Food coloring isn't good for you...Why take something so good for you and make it bad... Look kinda cool for a display maybe but no thank you!

I wonder if the colors would make your lips and mouth change to what ever color you use and for how long they would stay that way. It would be a good way to keep other people from steeling your lunch at work.LOL I'm sure kids would also get a big kick out of it.
I'm just not sure about the safety aspect of this and how much testing was done on it before hand. Other countries testing is a lot different from ours.

Hoperully people don't get too in the habit of eating blue food without thinking twice about it :P
I'd still be a little nervous about trying it myself though
