We Tried It: Eyelash Extensions
It’s a known fact around the office that I love me some false eyelashes. I don’t wear eye shadow on a day-to-day basis, but I do slap on some false eyelashes if I can. I personally feel that they can transform your look and really open up your eyes. As a result, I’ve always been curious about false eyelash extensions. The only thing that held me back was that I use cleansing oil daily and that’s a no-no when you have eyelash extensions. So, when Winks Eyelash Boutique invited us to try them out, I jumped at the opportunity!
I went into Winks Boutique very curious about the process. The lovely ladies were very helpful and told me all about the process. When you first arrive, you talk to your Eyelash Technician about the look you want to achieve. The Eyelash Technician will then assess your natural eyelashes to see what type of extensions are best for you. There are a lot of varieties to choose from. There are 4 types of lashes (polished, silk, mink, flares), different extensions (number of lashes) and different lengths.
To begin the process, the Eyelash Technician will prepare the area by applying a bit of Vaseline and taping the surroundings to protect your eyes. Using surgical, eye-safe glue, they'll then attach individual lashes onto your own existing eyelashes.
The process took about an hour and a half. I was quite comfortable and it was not at all irritating on my eyes. I think I even fell asleep for a little bit. When the Eyelash Technician was done, you are shown the results to ensure that you're satisfied (I sure was!).
As you can see from the pictures above, the eyelash extensions made a huge difference! I was very satisfied with the results. They didn't feel heavy and I really feel that it opened up my eyes. I also noticed that even on days when I was too lazy to put make up on, the eyelash extensions alone were enough to make me feel put together.
This is me sans make up, the eyelash extensions sort of steal the show! Although the price tag is a bit on the hefty side (C$190), I will definitely be going back.
Would you try eyelash extensions?

I have heard a lot of good things about these lashes. When and if you go get a refill, can you write another article on it? I wanted to get the lashes done but hearing that refills are needed every 2 weeks kind of put me off...financially.
Expensive but worth it. I hope you update us on how long that $190 takes you. Love to know how long they last.
Wow!What a big difference before and after. They look great!
Lovely! They really emphasize your eyes and look natural.
Looking good Mandy! Very Natural!
They really did an amazing job on your set :) While playing with the length and curl you can also mix in different diameters to create that natural look. Its super important to avoid rubbing or touching your eyes so that you won't accidentally break off the extensions from your natural lashes, this will cause gaps in between and it may look very unnatural. The best way to lose your extension is the natural way :)
I think there's a big difference in thickness and volume. What I like about them is that they aren't perfectly straight or curled so they don't look fake.
Morning Takoda! They looked pretty good for 2 1/2 weeks. Since each individual lashes are attached to your own natural lash, they fall out like your normal lashes would. They recommend getting refills (which is cheaper) about 2 weeks in to maintain a full look.
