Wedding Wednesday: 3 Simple DIY Hair and Makeup Tutorials for Brides
For those brides who are looking to stay on budget, skipping the pro makeup application and hair styling can be a great idea. Well, at first. Until the big day comes and you've suddenly remembered that when it comes to doing hair, you have the motor skills of a toddler.
Well, never fear. We found three deceptively simple hair styles and beauty looks that you can totally DIY without looking like you attempted them in the dark. And, if you will be going to the pros for the day of, these looks can be repurposed for any formal event, like a rehearsal dinner or shower.
Hairstyle #1: Chignon and Hair Comb
(via style.dailybuzz.com)
Glue gun an old brooch to an inexpensive hair comb. Add texture spray to hair, roll up and bobby pin all over. Lastly, fit in the brooch comb. For a more boho feel, try letting down a few loose strands and curling slightly. Makeup Tutorial #1: Glamour Smoky Eye

Hairstyle #2: Braided

Both of these styles look complicated and detailed, but they really only require a few regular braids and perhaps a friend to help you bobby pin. These styles work best on thicker, longer hair.
Makeup Tutorial #2: Classic Cat Eye
(Audrey Hepburn - Breakfast at Tiffany's Inspired Make-up, Lisa Eldridge)
Hairstyle #3: Embellished Topknot
(via style.dailybuzz.com)
Topknots can be easily done with a sock bun or you can backcomb your hair for a large ballerina bun. Use dry shampoo or hairspray for extra grip. Add a few bewjelled pins (which you can buy or create yourself). This is a great informal look for a backyard wedding.
Makeup Tutorial #3: Subtle, Natural Beauty

Would you or did you DIY your own wedding makeup or hair?

I would. Even though I wear the classic cat's eye everyday.
I really like the broach on the hair comb. Very simple and elegant.
