Wedding Wednesday: Creating Your Bridal Beauty Kit

Every bride-to-be knows that being prepared on your big day is of the utmost importance. Not only do you need to plan and co-ordinate caterers, bands and guest seating, but you also need to plan your beauty! This is why brides need to have a bridal beauty kit. Something that contains all the essentials and must haves to keep you looking your very best throughout the long and stressful day.

Now, I'm not a bride and I don't expect to be in the near future, but I do have my own version of a kit that I bring with me on a daily basis and even pack for overnight trips. I call it my emergency preparedness kit! This is also an excellent practice for any major formal events that you might have coming up - like prom.

Here's a sneak peek inside my kit:

This bag is just the bare bones essentials of what I might need. I use a clear plastic bag so that I get a good view of what I have and where each of my products are.

I thought I would give you chicks a much coveted look into my kit so that you can get a few ideas for your own. I included all of my favourite products when travelling or for a special event. These are the perfect products for a bride to be who might need a few perk me ups along the way!

Cleansing

First and foremost, make friends with your local dollar store and the mini travel section of your local discount chain or drugstore. Also, I love samples and deals and sign up for them whenever I can. I save and store them for this exact purpose.

To make cleansing as easy as possible, I bring cleansing moist towels to remove makeup. Or, I bring some micellar water and cotton rounds. These products are both great for cleaning up small makeup mistakes as well. If I know I will have access to water and a sink, I might bring samples of a scrub or a cleanser.

Lotions and Potions

When you drink alcohol, your skin becomes dehydrated, which means breakout city! If you're going to be up all night dancing, drinking and sweating it out in a heavy dress, you're going to need to do some skincare repair.

I need to give Murad Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel (C$54.00) a shoutout because it is currently my saviour and I adore it. I bring a spot treatment for any blemishes and a heavier and lighter moisturizer for dry patches and for underneath makeup.

Hair and Extras

If you have a complicated up do, chances are that at some point it will fall down. When that happens, have bobby pins and hair elastics ready. I also like to bring either a light styling oil or a cream to calm down any frizzies.

I have very sensitive eyes, so eye drops are always a must for me. As are oil blotting sheets, lip balm and a hand cream. Depending on the occasion, you'll also want to bring a deodorant, bandages or some meds in case a bad headache comes along.

Makeup and Perfume

To be sure you smell as fresh as a daisy the whole night, I like to have a body spray or a rollerball of perfume with me.

For makeup, I really only bring along a concealer, a setting powder and fluffy brush - all key ingredients to properly covering a pimple and a mascara for extra 'awake' eyes.

Here are a few other excellent options that I recommend for your carry along:

1. Clearasil Ultra Deep Pore Cleansing Pads (C$14.99)

2. Safety Pins: I know from experience that straps on dresses can easily break.

3. La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water (C$10.00)

4. ELF Daily Moisture Stick (C$6.00)

5. Clear Nail Polish/Top Coat: Seal a loose button or stop a run in your panty hose, there are tons of uses for this versatile product.

6. Cotton Rounds: For micellar water, makeup remover or just for cleaning up any blunders.

1. Garnier Fructis Volume Extend Instant Bodifier Dry Shampoo (US$4.97)

2. Sock Bun: In a pinch for an easy up do? Get the DIY version here.

3. Goody Spin Pins (C$8.98)

4. Sephora Cream Lip Stain (C$14.00)

5. Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge (C$29.00)

6. Joico Humidity Blocker Finishing Spray (US$17.99)

7. Joico Power Spray Fast Dry Finishing Spray (US$10.92)

You definitely have an amazing beauty kit. Mine doesn't come anywhere close to that! Lol.

I don't have a "kit" either but I really should start one up!

I got a migraine on my wedding day and thankfully my dad had some Bayer aspirin in his pocket. That was a HUGE lifesaver! I also got a migraine on the day of my high school graduation ceremony and couldn't go to the senior class dance that night. Wish I would have had that aspirin on that occasion!

As for beauty products, I wore pretty basic makeup on the day of my wedding and thankfully my hairstyle held so there was no need for most of these emergency products. I agree about the eye drops and blotting papers though - those are important! A pack of gum is good too, since it's not always convenient to brush your teeth. A few minutes of chewing freshens breath and the stickiness of the gum will pry any food leftovers from between your teeth.

I know a lot of brides want to have a super duper polished look on their wedding day, but the cleaner you can leave your face, the better. You will sweat, you will smear, you will breakout... all much more manageable if you're not wearing that much makeup in the first place so there's less to fix and/or smear all over your dad's shoulder during the first Father/Bride dance!

I haven't had a need for one in years, but I use to carry just about everyone of these things when I did have an emergency bag. I also always carried a travel size toothpaste and G.U.M. travel toothbrush.

Wow, you are just prepared for everything!! I wish I was this organized!
I do not have a emergency kit per say, but in my purse I always have a bottle of perfume or body spray rolling around, lipgloss/lipstick & a hand cream
