Wine Wednesday: DIY Chardonnay Cocktail

It's Wednesday, which means that we're halfway through the week. It also means that I kinda think we have to celebrate. I mean, we made it halfway through, soooo yeah, that's a reason if I ever heard one. And what better way to celebrate than with a cocktail?

I've really been loving cocktails lately. A well made cocktail at the end of the day? Nothing better. Of course, a fabulous glass of wine also makes for an excellent happy hour. What if there was a way to combine these two? A wine cocktail, perhaps?

Now you're talking my language.

Yellow Tail sent us a great bottle of chardonnay and a recipe for how to make a fresh, invigorating cocktail with it. We were all over it and wanted to share it with you all. So here's how to make a chardonnay squeese for your hump day happy hour:

1.5 oz Yellow Tail chardonnay
2 fresh basil leaves
2 orange slices
0.5 oz agave nectar
0.5 oz brandy
float of orange liqueur

In a mixing glass, add the orange slice, agave nectar and basil leaves, then muddle well.

Add ice, chardonnay and brandy.

Shake well and double strain into a chilled martini glass rimmed with sugar.

Float orange liqueur and garnish with a lime or lemon twist.
