Would You Wear a Cape? 10 Styles We Love
A far cry from the closets of Superman and Wonder Woman, warm capes are a stylish alternative to coats this Fall.
Here's a roundup of 10 capes we love:
Zara Studio Woollen Cape C$179, TOP SHOP Ultimate Military Cape US$190, Alice + Olivia Emory Cape with Embellished Shoulders US$347
For evening, go for a clean shape. We love the adornments on the shoulders of this Alice + Olivia cape, but you can add your own glitz to a solid cape with an oversized brooch. Wear this with leggings or a mini dress.
Ralph Lauren Blue Label Leather Trim Cashmere Cape US$599 (sale), Madewell Herringbone Vestcoat US$198, Diane Von Furstenberg Bede Jacket US$536.50 (sale)
These casual blanket style capes work well with chunky knit tops and form fitting bottoms.
Tommy Hilfiger Anna Houndstooth Cape US$198, Forever 21 Plaid Woven Cape US$33, Zara Cape with Same Fabric Belt C$149
These everyday capes can be worn with anything from jeans to a pencil skirt. Pair with a warm scarf and elbow length leather gloves to stay cozy.
Are you wearing capes this Fall? How would you style them?

I don't really understand the difference between a poncho and a cape, these look like ponchos to me. Either way, I don't care for them. Some styles are kind of nice, like the brown double breasted one in the top middle photo. But most of these just look like you're wearing a cloth bag over you and it does nothing for your figure.
I just cannot get into this trend. I think it makes girls look like a tweed balloon. The Tommy one looks more like a super enlarged sweater instead of a cape which makes it look wearable-- but still a no go for me.
Cape's aren't for me either, but I do remember my mom dressing me in poncho's. She use to try and get me to wear shirts to, but I was such a tom boy I always found a way to sneak my pants on under the shirt's. Being her only girl it use to driver her crazy when she'd find me dressed like that.

I'd do a poncho, but I'm not really feeling the capes. Don't mind the Tommy Hilfiger though - I'd take a second look at that one. |
