Would You Wear: The Transparent Lucite Clutch
Every season, there's an 'it' bag. Seen on the arm of every major player, it becomes the must-have item for any expert fashionista. It's the bag that has composed classy ladies turning into ravenous raccoons as they push other shoppers out of the way so they can get their hands on it. The 'it' bag of late is definitely the transparent, lucite clutch. Lucite is a huge overall trend for spring (check out our Spring Accessory Trend Guide), not only in purses but in shoes and jewelry, too.
When it comes to the clear purses though, I can't help but wonder: what do you put in it?
On an average day my purse is filled with about 60% junk (including candy wrappers, old pieces of paper, receipts, 10 pens and maybe some used tissue), 30% makeup (lipsticks, lip liners, lip glosses, lip stains and a concealer) and 10% actually useful items (wallet, phone, keys).
There is no way I'm carrying all that around for the world to see.
Also what happens when the crimson tides come in? Do you mind if the world knows what tampon brand you use?
It seems to me that the lucite clutch carries more problems than its worth. It looks fabulous on the arms of these gals because they have carefully curated their items. I'm not even sure where you'd carry one (aside from fashion week). But on the average girl? Umm.. not convinced. I like the look of the purse, I think it's cute, modern and different, but it's not at all practical.
For me, the answer is clear: it's a no-go. Pun very much intended.
Would you carry any of these lucite options?
1. NastyGal Eye Candy Tote (C$49.18)
2. Zara Neon Minaudiere (C$39.90)
3. New Look Clear Perspex Hard Box Clutch (UK$12.99)
4. Anthropologie Vintage Clear Lucite Clutch
What do you think of the transparent lucite clutch? Is it something you'd try out?

I'm undecided on these... I think it would have to be a pretty neat looking bag for me to carry it, with some sort of detailing or something. Not sure. I also wouldn't want people to see everything I'm carrying I don't think.

I know the ladies that work at our Caesar's Casino have to use this type of bag but its not for me, showing everyone my business.

its cute but no. my purse is a disaster area.

I really don't like this idea... As others said, it would make you an easy target for muggings, and besides I've got 2 kids so my purse is always a mess of snacks, tissues, toys and other things... lol
I guess if maybe I had mini little bags to go inside them like makeup bags and a cute coin purse, other wise I don't think this would be for me. I like my items in my purse to be for my eyes only, lol. Cute idea if you really didn't have anything going in it that's important/personal.
Well the idea is cool and cute, but I don't think I would enjoy everyone being able to see what I carry around to be honest. Plus I'm in no way organized!
Noo thank you! I also have so much junk in my purse, mostly garbage haha...if I was one of those people that just carted around the few items I actually use, then i'd be up for this trend. As it stands, however, I will keep to the deep dark depths of my opaque bags. |
