Yay or Nay?: Crop Top
This Yay or Nay- we’re debating a highly controversial trend: The Crop Top. I studied fashion in college and this subject was pretty much a minefield any time it was brought up. On the one hand, we have designers like Alexander Wang who showed the trend on the runway. We also have the celeb followers of the crop top, and these are heavy weights like Rihanna and Diane Kruger. On the other hand, we have the naysayers- those who think it comes off slightly tarty, immature or just plain passé (hello- Clueless in the 90’s!)

I myself own a long sleeve cropped sweater which only shows my stomach if I lift my arms up. I have worn it once or twice with high waisted skirts. I feel like this is the trick to wearing a crop top- balance it out with a high waisted bottom or long skirts. Check out the three crop top options below- would you be brave enough to bare it all in one of these? Or maybe you already own one?

Nay! This look is limited to the minority with perfect bellies lol.

Nay! I see the crop top over a bikini at the beach, but that is it!
Nay to them being worn this way with your tummy sticking out. However, YAY when people wear a nice long, fitted tank underneath. :)

YAY for the Gisele Bundchen look-alikes... NAY for the rest of us
Yay 3x - well, for the t-shirt crops :) Not a fan of the kind RiRi's wearing though, it looks like an unfinished knitting project. I like the design of the Neon pink heart one but prefer the subtleness of Rachel Bilson's crop.
Nay for me unless it's a young girl that can rock it! I think we wore this in the late 80's! Nay for me!
I say NAY. This fad went out for a reason - along with neon and jelly shoes. Let's leave it in the fashion archives and let the world be a better place.
it depends on the amount of stomach showing and the person wearing it. If its a decent length and a person with a body to wear it. Then a totally Yes |
