Yay or Nay? Hilary Swank's Red Carpet Style
In theory, Hilary Swank's outfit at the premiere of New Year's Eve has everything that I love. She's elegant in a jewel tone shade and sophisticated with just the right amount of sheer and sequins. That being said, there is something holding me back from really loving this look.
I think it's the weird choice of sleeve. Tell me I'm not the only one who notices the bat wings? A loosely tied together bow at the waist over a sheer overlay, is not the best look. There is way too much fabric on her very athletic and slim frame. I really hate this because cut a different way, or even styled differently, this would be totally chic!
However, I do need to give a shout out to Hilary's hair and make up team- girl looks beautiful! I read some complaints on her shoe choice, but here I diverge, I actually really like them. They're interesting enough to make a statement but don't take away from the dress.
What do you think- are the bat wings blinding your judgement too? Is this a yay or nay?

Yay! Although it's a bit busy, I think it totally suits her...enough covered on top to show some more leg on the bottom! Also like that it's sheer sleeved.

NAY.. and it wasn't just because of that weird mosquito net (oh people called that sleeves?!)

YAY! Hilary Swank has one of THE best red carpet fashion sense ever, and her and Elie Saab (one of my fave designers) go hand in hand.
Nay - the fabric and cut are too old for her, and the short hemline doesn't match: she ends up looks like an aging soap star trying to look young.
nay, she looks like a candy wrapper. |
